Demian was amused as she was still fearless even when she was confronting Dragons. She should have at least fear of death yet again she proved she was the Seraphina he had known.
Demian had always doubted that she wasn't a princess as from tip to toe, she reeked of wildness and he liked that from the moment she had dared to oppose him with the wilderness of her jade green eyes. It reminded him of the dark depth of the forest and the cruel fate that had bound him.
It reminded him of that story he had heard when he was a child.
'There was a forest where a girl lived unaware of civilization. No one knew about her as she had grown into the wilderness looked after by the forest itself.
'But one day, she came to know of the civilization. She was fascinated by the creatures who lived far from the forest. She wanted to know more about them. So she left the forest.
As she left her birthplace and started to live with them, she became one of them.
But slowly, the soil ran out of trees, the river ran out of water and the wild animals died. She got scared but didn't go to the forest.
Soon, the civilization she was fascinated with started to perish. Day by day, there was a shortage of food and water. The civilians started to fight among each other for food. If someone had a spoon of water, others would kill him to get that. They slowly became uncivilized.
And one day, there was no food or water to give. So she went to the forest.
She looked at the dried soil where trees used to bloom, she looked at the dead animals who were once her friends, she looked at the river who used to run freely.
As she set her feet on the forest floor everything became alive. The trees bloomed, water ran into the rivers and the animals were running around her with joy. She realized there would be nothing if she wasn't there. She was the heart of the forest. Everything died because she went away. She realized her mistakes.
She became blinded by her fascination and didn't care for the forest which she used to grow with love and care; thus, they were dying. She realised she was forbidden to go outside of the forest otherwise everything would perish. So, she said goodbye to her civilized life and remained forever in the forest.'
Seraphina was like that forest deity who was forbidden to anyone because she had a power to destroy everything yet she had a power to create anything. She was forbidden to anyone because she could change anyone with her wild nature and made them feel they wanted her and kept her for themselves. She was just like the forest deity wherever she went, everything flowered with warmth. Just like it happened with Demian.
And he was the forest who would die if she wasn't there. It was a curse he was very fond of. And he would never let anyone have her because she was forbidden to go outside of his life. She was his. She would forever stay with him.
When he heard that story from his father he laughed as it used to remind him of his curse but his father said some curses are not bitter but blessing and he came to know the meaning just recently after he met Seraphina.
He was amused every time she would defy him as no one since his childhood had dared to oppose him.
They had fear for their lives but it was different for Seraphina. He had barely seen her being scared of something as she had always jumped to the face of the dangers. Even when he was angry with her, she would do something stupid or get angry at him instead. It was always an odd way she did things but it had always made him curious of her.
There was another reason he knew she was someone else. She had something hidden inside of her, something that made him not only curious but as well as keeping her all to himself. She was like the forest deity he wanted to keep and he would never let anyone touch it. Or, have it. He felt greedy over her.
