"p- please! Don't kill me! It won't happen again I swear."

I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not playing games anymore. Tell me what you know!"

James walked up behind him with a sinister smirk and pulled a knife to his neck.
"Now."

"Okay! OKAY!"

James backed up despite his bloodlust.

James is one of my best because unlike Alex he can torture someone if need be. He takes pleasure from it.

Alex is someone who keeps me grounded and calm.

"He's at Saint Burrows street. That's all I know."

I knew he was telling the truth. It's a gift of mine.

"Kill him James."

"W- what?! But I told you everything I know!"
The man turned pale and he was shaking in his chair.

"I know you did. I just don't like loose ends."

I turned away and walked out of the warehouse. Alex on my tail.

I got in the backseat of the car and nodded at our driver Alex following in behind me.

It was silent for a few minutes before he spoke.

"We didn't have to kill him you know."

I sighed.
"Yes we did. He was a loose end. We can't have that."

"You didn't kill Davina. She was a loose end."

If Alex could avoid bloodshed, he would.

Before Alex came along I did everything on my own.

But as we got closer over the years of working together he wouldn't leave the room when I was the one doing it. He never told me why but I assume it was in case the killing finally got to me.

I knew watching it was something he couldn't handle so I had James join our team.

He was loyal to me and he had a bloodlust that Alex didn't.

Despite that, Alex is a really valuable member. He is very convincing when need be. He handles a lot of our business deals.

Knowing James was going to take a while I had the driver take me and Alex to the house and come back to get James when he was finished.

Alex was my childhood best friend which is why I trusted him most.

I didn't want to get him caught up in this business but one day he saw something he wasn't meant to.

My father told me he knew too much. According to my father I had two choices. Kill him or have him join.

So I did the only thing I could do.

I recruited him.

It took some work but he eventually became a valuable asset.

I don't really trust James. I didn't know much about him accept his need for bloodshed.

But I knew enough to know he would never become a rat. He knows what I'm capable of.

He would be stupid to go against me.

"Why did you let that girl go?"

I turned to look at Alex, my face filled with confusion.
"What do you mean?"

He sighed.
"You let a witness go. As happy as I am that you did that, why?"

When I didn't answer for a few seconds he continued talking again.
"Do you have feelings for her?"

"I'll admit she's beautiful Alex but it's nothing beyond that. I have no interest in dating anyone."

I paused before continuing. "I've just never felt enough attraction with someone to pursue them. You know that."

"Good. That will be nothing but trouble for you if you end up catching feelings for someone."

"I know. I just have this odd feeling about her. I don't know what it is but I think there's more to her then I think."

I turned to look out the window.
"Besides she's the preacher's daughter she's much too innocent for me."

I turned to look at Alex with a smirk on my face.

"Preacher's kids are the worst."

As soon as those words left his mouth we both started laughing.

There's never a dull moment with him.
