chapter Fourteen

Three weeks passed since the last interaction between the former duo. Rosette sat in her booth alone as she formed her lyrics to the instrumental for the ballad her and Teddy worked on.

"It's an open book to write here.
It's a blank canvas to create
It's a life we can restore.
We can get back what we had and maybe more.
Maybe get us back to better than before."

She hummed softly as she wrote down the words that formed in her mind then fell from her lips.

"There's a bouquet from our wedding,
It was such a sight to see.
And the ceremony; everything we'd dream it'd be!
My once upon a time, goddamn what a tragedy."

She paused as she contemplated to add those lyrics. She looked up and saw a face, her emotions became conflicted. Rushing out of the booth, she ran straight to him. She took him in tight, he smelt of her. The hint of perfume she was all too familiar with was infused with his scent. "I'm so happy you're ok." His voice was small as she pulled away slowly.

The two held eye contact as they held each other loosely. As he was about to pull her back into his embrace, an echo travelled throughout the soundproof room. His face stung as he stumbled back. He looked up at Rosette as she glared at him with watery eyes. "Fuck you and her." She commented and he approached her. "I didn't mean for this to happen." "bullshit, Jaebeom." She bit her lip.

"Whatever happened to seulgi, that was her name was it?" She asked and interrupted him. "Or was that a cover up for Arianna." "Rosette, just hear me out." She nodded and leaned against the sound board. "I'm listening." He sigh and sat in the couch across from her. "I didn't mean to fall for Arianna. At all.." he started and he watched as Rosette sat in the chair behind the board.

"It just happened--it just--" she interrupted him and stared into his eyes. "Did you sleep with her?" He bit his lip and nodded. He watched as the salty liquid fell slowly from her left eye. His heart broke at the sight. "Do you like her...Are you really in deep?" He looked away and she scorned him. "Don't even think about lying to fucking me." His head dropped. "I love you" his voice cracked. "That not answering my question" she rebuttalled and he responded quickly "but it's relevant."

Another tear droplet fell and he was desperate to wipe it away. "No, it's not." He noticed the right eye finally releasing the tears it held. Unable to resist he approached her to wiped it away, and for a moment she allowed it. Her eyes closed as his hand held her cheek, it felt so foreign yet familiar. Ultimately, she pulled away making his hand drop of her lap.

"Answer my question....do you like her? Or is it deeper?" He looked up at her. "I don't know." He answered as he looked into her eyes. "I like her." He admitted "but, I can't confirm or deny if the feeling is deeper because I genuinely do not know." She stared at him and nodded. "Get out." For a moment, Jaebeom went numb. "Leave. Go to your new found love." Her sarcastic tone was evident as she stood.

"Rosette, Rosette...no." he stood up. "Is this my karma?" She asked as she looked up at the ceiling. "Lord, I messed up but why keep punishing me." Her voice became weak as her head fell. He approached her and pulled her in for a hug as she break down. She hit his chest and pushed him as he held her tightly. "We've fought, we literally fought to try to have a happy ending.... I'm tired. I'm fucking tired." Her voice became hoarse from the crying.

Jaebeom was speechless, he had no words and she pulled away. She held her head before pushing her hair back to look at his face. She saw the guilt and regret, but for some reason....it wasn't enough. "I guess we wasted time." She mumbled and began packing her bags. "I have five more minutes to use the studio." Jaebeom got offended, he felt that her words had a double meaning. "Nothing was wasted time to me." She looked at him. "That includes Ariana too, am I right?" With that she left him and the studio
