Gwyn realized she was in someone's hand when she woke up. It took her a second to realize that she wasn't in her usual surroundings. She was being held like a bride and someone was running. Am I being kidnapped?
She suddenly jumped from whoever was holding her. She could only see a mask on the person's face. He started to speak but Gwyn was faster. She unsheathed her dagger and started attacking him. The masked man dodged her easily, he knew her tell.
When she attacked again, her stitches ripped open. She grunted and groaned The masked man took the knife from her hand and twisted her so that his hand was covering her neck, but he also put his hand on her stomach, so that her bleeding would stop.
Suddenly she saw Azriel's shadows dancing around her feet. Azriel. She relaxed in his arms, the pain from her wound growing rapidly. "Shh, it's me" He whispered to her. He then picked her up and laid her down, her back against a tree.
"Where are we?" Gwyn asked, between labored breaths. "We're in the Autumn Court" He said calmly. Gwyn didn't miss the tiniest hint of fear in his voice. She asked, "Why?", Azriel then lifted her shirt, not replying. His face became cold and unreadable.
"You need to relax, I have a mission" He said while taking off his shirt and pressing it to Gwyn's stomach. She hissed in pain. She asked, "What mission"
Azriel didn't want to answer Gwyn because he knew she would try to accompany him. She spoke again, "Answer me" she said, trying to sound authoritative and miserably failing. She forced his gaze to hers. Azriel finally answered, "Beron has the book". "Oh", "I need to get it back, I was trying to run so that I wouldn't waste my strength in winnowing, I needed you at the night court so that you would be......safe".
"I was safe in the Summer Court, but that doesn't matter.........." She said, not saying the words which Azriel could clearly see in her eyes. "NO" He said sharply. "I can help you, I already look like I'm from the Autumn court with my hair, and I'm friends with Eris". Azriel's jaw tightened at his name.
"No, absolutely not......you would slow me down" Azriel said coldly, knowing that she could be a big ally. Gwyn snapped at that, "Well I guess you SHOULD slow down because you've been doing pretty idiotic stuff in a hurry." Her eyes were blazing with anger.
Azriel couldn't stop the smile that tugged at his lips when he saw Gwyn pout. "It's not funny" She said but her cheeks became as red as her hair, "I know" Azriel replied not even trying to stop his grin.
Before Gwyn could reply, she heard the voice of the person she'd missed dearly..."Hello little fire" Eris said and walked out of the shadows.
