Just as I landed my feet on the first stair, I tripped and fell over the ground. My head rammed against the rocky floor and I groaned while turning around. It took me a second before I snapped back into reality and kicked anyone—everyone that stepped near to me.

"I don't want to die!" I screamed, throwing my legs in the air before I tried to get some energy to get back up on my feet.

The brothers hovered over me. They were pissed. The annoyance brought a gloom to their features. Knox stepped down and grabbed my leg, taking control of it.

"Leave me alone."

"But it's time to die." He growled, fearing me.

"No!" I cried. "I don't want to die, please. I don't want to. I will leave, I will never come back but I don't want to die." I took a deep breath and shifted around before raising myself up from the ground. Warm tears left my eyes and sprinted down my cheeks. I shook my head and pleaded again, "Please. Don't do this to me."

"Do you think we care?" He cocked a brow at me

My throat filled up with sorrow. "Please..."

"It's time." He tugged on me and even when I tried, I couldn't get away as I was weak and in a vulnerable state.

"No." I gave my head another shake and a fall of tears burned my face.

"She's in tears, Knox." Cain said, taking away his brother from me.

Something rattled within him before the murderous monster fled from his eyes. "Fine. Not tonight." His jaw tightened as he walked away from me and went down the flight of stairs by himself, growling and hissing with every step he took. "Take her back to the estate and make sure she stays there!" He yelled at his brother that stood near me.

I twisted my head around and watched him leave before I sighed out of relief and rubbed the wetness away from my cheeks using my shoulders. "Thank you." I whispered.

Cain bent down and gently brought me up on my feet. The grins and laughters were long gone. My brows wrinkled in confusion at the sudden change of the atmosphere. Something was definitely wrong here and it wasn't me or my forced entry into this town.

I glared at Cain one last time before following him down the stairs while Knox was long gone, disappeared. My heart pumped hard each time I looked outside. The dark creature was here, promising death of a hundred more immortal beings.

It was so close, so close that it's presence left a terrifying picture in my head.

Cain drove me to a house in the town. I assumed it was the same one where I had been held for the past couple of days. It was an estate. Tall walls, acres of land and the house hidden behind a cluster of greens—it was the house of the Alpha's.

I kept looking back, at the borders of Thornwood even when we were so deep into the town. For some reason, I couldn't wipe away the image of the dark creature and wonder whether if it would ever come into the town and kill everyone.

Just a wonder.

We all once thought we were safe but we weren't.

None of us really were.

"Go to sleep and try to not run." Cain showed me to another room in the estate than the small little room with the smell of a dead animal lingering in it. I suppose mercy could be found after all. "You wouldn't get far and we both know you don't want to die." It wasn't a threat even though it sounded as one.

I couldn't run away from the town as the danger was right outside the doorstep, waiting for anyone to cross it's path.

"I'm hungry." I managed to whisper after getting underneath the warm sheets. While this was enough, I did require a little something to keep myself alive—or at least when I could possibly get some blood in the near future.
