After the situation with her mother Zareli decided that she didn't want to participate in the dinner anymore. She didn't know who was coming over and she couldn't bring herself to care.

She was used to her mother's behavior but it still effected her.

Granted she did push her mother, but she couldn't handle this perfect facade her mother put on for her dad.

Ever since he had been out of jail she'd been acting like she hadn't abused Zareli mentally and physically. As soon as she was old enough, she fought back and that only made the issue bigger.

Her father was their mediator.

He didn't know why they bumped heads how they did but he assumed it was regular behavior for the two. That maybe they'd been around each other too long and their personalities were starting to clash.

After the situation, Zareli's father, Jeremiah, sat and thought about why his wife would throw something at their child. Despite their argument, small or big, he didn't think it was necessary.

Although there were only minutes before guests might arrive he wanted to know and wouldn't wait to bring it up.

"Why you throwin' shit at her," he asked with his face scrunched in confusion and anger.

"I didn't- You don't never throw no shit at her. I don't give no fuck 'bout no argument," he cut her off.

She looked at him with an innocent face.

"I didn't mean to bug, I was just mad. That girl get under my skin and she know it. She always pushing me." Delilah, his wife, vented.

"She been acting like that when you was gone too, it's her attitude. She get it from you," she rambled with a chuckle.

"Stop tryna brush that shit off. You an adult, you 'posed to deal with shit like that with maturity. Not to mention that's yo child, she not nobody on the street. You talk to her and figure out the problem, yo first thought shouldn't be throw a house phone at her head."

Delilah smiled tightly at her husband promising to talk to their daughter after dinner.

He didn't think that was good enough but settled seeing that the time was now 7:16.

He made his way upstairs to check on his daughter. He knew she had his issues and he was trying to help and support her the best he could.

He didn't want his daughter on medication, having some old white people telling her she was crazy like they did him.

He didn't have support growing up and was led down the wrong path, his mental health undoubtedly contributing to the cause. He went to prison when Zareli was about seven due to his past catching up to him.

Regardless of the circumstance, Zareli remained a daddy's girl.

He always made sure she was taken care of on Christmas and birthday's. From what he knew she was living life while he was serving time.
