I sat in my room thinking about what I had done two days ago, it was the weekend so I felt no need to rush my process. As I had begun to think about what type of lives the children would be given when they started over, my phone rung. I looked at my phone and rolled my eyes seeing it was Amara.
I knew that she didn't want anything but to drag me to a party that I didn't want to be at.
"Hello," I answered.
"Hi bestest friend in the whole world who wants to go to a party with me," she said quickly.
"No I don't want to go to a party with you, I want to sit in my nice, comfortable, people-free house."
"Yo future baby daddy gon be there, you know you want to go," I almost felt her rolling her eyes saying the last part.
"No I don't, I want to stay home, you go to parties every weekend. Don't you want to sit in the house and watch a movie or something," I questioned.
"No I don't. I want to go out and have fun with you."
"Not this weekend Mar, you can come over here and we can watch scary movies and eat snacks and shit.. But I'm not going outside." I tried to reason.
"Sigh, you never want to do anything, let me call you back and let you know though," she hung up.
I shrugged knowing she would get over her fit, if I wasn't comfortable going outside than I wasn't. And she wasn't going to make me.
There was too much going on in the world to be trying to party and leave yourself vulnerable by getting drunk and smoking.
I got up out of bed, not being able to find my train of thought after getting off the phone with Amara and went in my moms room.
Since she had her door open I just stood there surveying her room like she had done me so many times before. I looked around and didn't find anything out of place, so I looked at my mom and dad laid up staring at me.
"Yall think yall grown ain't it," I asked with my arms crossed and eyes squinted.
"We is grown ma'am, thank you very much. Close my door." She rolled her eyes.
"We are grown, dummy," I heard my dad mumble which made my mom hit him over the head as him and I laughed.
"Yall heard what I said. Close my door Rhys ain't nobody playing witchu."
"Ok ain't nobody want to be in this li ugly room anyway, baldheaded tail. You too daddy while you laughing," I continued before shutting the door laughing and going down to the kitchen.
I grabbed my leftover chinese food and put it in the microwave. While I was waiting for my food to reheat, I heard the doorbell ring.
I stood in my spot by the counter because I'd know if it was someone here to talk if they'd rung the bell twice. Everything else is delivery.
