THERE WERE FIVE STAGES OF GRIEF, DENIAL, ANGER, BARGAINING, DEPRESSION, AND ACCEPTANCE. Denial was the stage Rein had become familiar with after John B's passing.
It had officially been one week since Rein fled the scene and found herself holed up in Charleston. Not only was one of her best friends dead, but her remaining two probably wanted nothing to do with her. Rein couldn't even begin to imagine how Kiara felt.
It wasn't like she could reach out to them either. Her phone still remained at her home in Outer Banks tucked in her top dresser drawer, hundreds of miles away from where she stayed now.
Luckily, Rein was able to track down her brother in the city, thanks to a girl named Aster Holloway, who had informed her Jack Partens was making quite a name for himself amongst the teenagers in the city.
Rein was lucky enough to guess correctly on the sixth try of knocking on random apartment doors. Jack was beyond shocked when he opened the door to notice his little sister looking completely wrecked standing on the welcome mat.
There wasn't a dry eye for the entire night of the Partens sibling reunion as Rein filled Jack in on every little thing that happened, starting with the night of the hurricane all the way to the night of John B's death, not missing a single detail in between.
