Gwen's POV

As I drove into the city, I couldn't help but stop by this jewelry store that David and I walked past once. I hadn't been there since that visit, and I wanted to see this one necklace again.

It had a beautiful purple amethyst stone flower pendant that sparkled in the sunlight, with a stunning rose gold chain and accents. David remarked that it would compliment my eyes.

I parked my car in a nearby parking lot and slammed the door shut, jogging towards the store in excitement. I ran up to the window display and pressed my face against it, searching for that necklace.

It was gone. In its place was a new necklace, but it wasn't half as pretty. Goddammit, I swore under my breath.

I should have known a necklace as beautiful as that would have been sold, and it's been so many years.

I walked away with a heavy heart. Somebody else got it. That beautiful necklace that now belonged to someone else. I guess that's my punishment for waiting.

I hopped in the car, trying not to let that disappointment get the best of me, and continued on driving towards the dress shop.

~ Few hours later ~

After hours of dress searching, hopping from store to store, I finally drove back into camp with the perfect dress. As I was carrying the dress to the counselors' cabin in its bag, David trotted up to me and asked, "Ooh, what's this?"

"It's my dress for tonight", I replied. "Don't peek though!", I said playfully.

"Alrighty, I won't." He chuckled. "Also, I'd hate to rush you, but it's almost 6:00 PM and it's a bit of a drive to the restaurant."

Damn, already? Time flew by when I was dress shopping.

"No worries, I won't be long!", I replied as I turned away from him and jogged the rest of the way to the cabin. I looked back and saw him chuckle a little.

Max's POV

"Oww! Nikki, your elbow's jabbed into my stomach!" I screeched in pain.

"Sorry! I had to shift positions because Neil's foot was right in my face and smelled awful,"

"HEY! I tell you that stench was what a MAN smells like."

"Oh really? Must feel bad that a manlier smell comes from me, who by the way is a FEMALE--"

"SHUT IT YOU TWO!", I sighed, frustrated. "I gotta keep on the lookout without two assholes screaming all up in my face."

"Stop acting as if you know everything about this, Max", Neil retorted. "I'm the one who came up with this beauty!" He pulled that stupid walkie-talkie he'd been building for the past few days out of his pocket.

"This fine piece of technology happens to be connected to a small tracking device that ALSO happens to have a microphone that I attached to the bottom of David's jacket before he put it on. And Preston has another one of them that we can use to communicate with him to tell everyone else what's happening! It's the greatest moder-"

"SHUT UP NEIL, DAVID'S COMING!", I whisper-yelled. I was peeking out of the back of the trunk and saw him standing next to the car with his hands in his pockets.

"Jesus, stop trying to look cool, David", I muttered to myself.

I ducked down farther in my place and made sure the thingy was pulled all the way over us. I knew that nobody ever used this trunk, it was too small to fit anything useful, which was why squeezing in here was such a pain.
