The Dinner

My mother wouldn't stop fussing as I put my hair up. "If those hyuga cause any trouble please tell me sweetie." I sighed, my mother insisted I dressed nicely. "Mom I'll be fine. Besides I don't think that's why he invited us." My mother gave me a questionable look. " It's probably to see where we stand with Hina. She is the heir to the Hyuga clan. As a father and the head of the clan he needs to be sure he can trust us. That's my best guess so please don't worry."

She cupped my face, " Sometimes you act like a child other times like an adult. It's not healthy Sweetie, your a child. So please stop trying to shoulder everything. I know you want to protect them and us but you are so young. Please don't grow up so fast." With that she kissed my head and I was off.

She's right, I am a child right now. But my mind is that of one that has seen horrors. I sighed was I being to selfish putting it all on myself? I don't know that's a later thought. Shikamaru and Naruto filled in beside me.

"Don't be nervous you two it's only a test of loyalty." I didn't have to tell that to Shikamaru but it would be unfair to Naruto. "I-I'm not nervous just...uh... excited yeah that's it!" I draped my arm over their shoulders.

We arrived infront of the Hyuga Estate. Guards let us in, and we met with Hinata who seemed sad. I gave her hand a reassuring squeeze as she led us to her father. We then sat down and waited for him to enter. Naruto fidgeted in his seat. Shikamaru had his eyes closed, Hinata had her eyes glued to the table. I stared straight ahead at the door.

The doors opened and everyone sat straight. Tension was in the air as her father entered and behind him Neji and Hanabi.

Neji sat in the empty spot beside Hinata and her father and Hanabi sat across from us. I stared at him and he stared back. Naruto was beginning to feel uneasy. So I started, " It's a pleasure to formally meet you Mr. Hiashi Hyuga."

His face remained unmoved by my politeness. " Pleasure to you as well Sakura Haruno." He's mocking me. Let's start the interrogation shall we? " There's no need for mockery Mr.Hiashi. I'm sure you ask us here for as reason."

He's face formed a scowl. " Yes today's earlier evens were unbecoming for the next clan head." I held my head high. " On the contrary sir if she had sat there not only I would been bullied but your daughter as well. As the next clan head I think what she did was justifiable considering dishonoring her would be dishonoring the clan as well."

He seemed to have considered my words. Now he's going to start interrogating. " So you knew my daughter was the clan head and you approached her."

" In all honesty yes I knew. But that was not the reason I approached her."
He looked unmoved. " The reason I approached your daughter was because her and I are alike in many ways both of us have struggled to overcome obstacles in our life that normal children our age don't have to overcome and not only that she's a very talented individual and a nice girl. So why shouldn't I approached?"

Neji turned his head towards me. " She's weak." I glared at him " Wrong. Shes strong, have you tried to take her on without holding back. I'll have you know she pacts quite the punch. Both I and the boys have felt it. And that's without her Byakugan imagine her with it. I must say as her cousin you don't seem to like her very much."

His face turned red, Naruto snorted and Shikamaru stayed quiet. Hinata looked at me and smiled. I winked at her. " You say my daughter has improved?" I got up and grabbed a wooden table and threw it at her. Reacting to instinct she punched it shattering the table into small pieces. " It would seem so."

Both Neji her father and Hanabi were surprised. " She's capable of more than that if you stop belittling her. As a both a father and a clan head even you should see it." I mocked him, his face beared the look of unease.

"You got the answer you wanted from us." He looked shocked. " You knew the real test!?" I rolled my eyes. " You made it obvious even Naruto knew." Naruto grunted in response. " If you wanted to see if we were loyal just ask. I'd rather skip the formalities and mocking and just be straightforward."

Hanabi stood up and walked over to me. " How do we know we can trust you?" I looked at Neji. "I just proved it." And with that I walked out with Hinata and the others. " I'll take you guys home. Hanabi is going to bug me about you three now." We laughed.

As we walked and talked I almost collided into Sasuke. "Whoops sorry." He looked up and seemed surprised. "It pretty late for you four to be out and about." I laughed " I could say they same thing. We were just going home after being interrogated by Hina's father." He raised an eyebrow " Long story."

Suddenly a scream was heard from my house...
