Avery's P.O.V
I woke up to the cold air nipping at my skin.
"Good morning beautiful," I turned to see Soda grinning at me.
"Good morning handsome," I said groggily. He kissed me lightly on my forehead and sat up.
"What's Darry gonna say? We were gone all night."
"Don't worry, I can handle Darry," He said comforting me. I nodded.
We got up and climbed down the latter into my bedroom. I quickly grabbed some more clothes from my dresser and shoved them into a duffle bag.
I sighed sadly as I passed my parents room and Soda put an arm around my shoulder.
"Try not to think about them. It worked for me," He said rubbing my back gently.
We raced down the street and stopped at the Curtis' door.
"Here goes nothing," I said as I turned the knob.
As soon as we stepped inside all eyes were on us.
Great, I thought to myself. The whole gang is here.
Darry was the first to speak, "Where in God's name were you two?!?!" He shouted.
"Avery found me at her house and we just stayed the night there," Soda said.
All of the boys eyebrows went up obviously thinking pervertedly.
"Nothing happened!" Soda said defensively. I glared at them so hard that I swear jaggers were coming out of my eye sockets. He grabbed my arm and dragged me into his room.
"Soda's gonna go get some!" Dally yelled.
"SCREW YOU!!!!" I screamed back as Soda slammed the bedroom door.
I threw myself on the bed.
"Oh my God they are so judgmental sometimes," I said angrily.
"I know, it drives me crazy," He said sitting on the bed next to me.

The gang knocked on the door an hour later trying to apologize.
"Come on guys let us in. You know we didn't mean anything," Two-bit said through the door.
"You know what guys, we don't know so why don't you tell us," Soda said holding my hand.
"We are really sorry guys," Darry said.
I stood up and Soda raised his eyebrows in question. I just nodded and opened the door.
All of the boys were there except Dally. His absence lighted a flame of hatred inside of me. He was the problem, not really the gang, more him. He just doesn't when to shut his mouth.
"Where is he?" I asked sternly.
"Who?" Steve asked.
"You know damn well who!" I yelled I was furious. They all backed up in surprise, I never yell, ever. I just stay in the background with Johnny, a forgettable comment here, a whisper there, I try to blend in. Sure rarely I get into a little argument with one of the gang, but I always let them win trying to stay innocent and blameless. But this, I have never screamed like this.
"He left to Buck's" Steve whispered. I glared at them and raced out of the house. I heard them yelling behind me, but they didn't follow me and I was glad, this was between me and Winston.

I ran all the way to Buck's, the base of the music boomed and shook the house. I ran inside to be met by a crowed party. I pushed through the sea of people searching for Dallas. The place reeked of stale alcohol, cigarettes, and vomit. I gagged a couple of times but continued looking. Finally I spotted Dally sitting at the bar, his brow was furrowed in concentration and an unlit cigarette hung loosely from his lips.
I stopped dead in my tracks. What the hell am really doing here? Sure for Dallas but what am I really here for?
A drink.
I slumped into the seat next to him and reached over the bar grabbing a bottle of Scotch. Dallas stared at me.
"Avery?" I turned to him and took a swing from the bottle. The cool liquid filled my mouth and for a second it wasn't that bad, until the taste really hit me. It took all of my will power not to vomit the alcohol all over Dally, but I forced it down my throat.
He stared at me wide eyed as I smirked.
"Wa-what are you doing here," He asked.
"What does it look like? To drink!" I grinned and took another swing from the bottle. He just kept staring at me horrified. I nudged his arm and offered him the bottle.
The liqueur made everything feel softer. I felt as if I could do anything. It felt good.
Dally took a small sip from the bottle hesitantly.
"Come on! You can do better than that!!!" I yelled over the music. A grin spread across his face and he took a big mouthful from the bottle.
Just then the song changed and Twist and Shout by the Beatles started playing.
Dally's P.O.V
Just as Twist and Shout started playing Avery's drunken eyes lit up. It was her favorite song, when ever it would play on the radio she would turn it up as loud as it could go and we would put down all the windows as we drove through town. She loved music but hated singing. She would always say "I'm a music appreciator not music player."
She took another long swing and jump off the chair grabbing my arm and dragging us both onto the dance floor.
I know I can be a real jerk to her and what I said was mean, but if I took it back the teasing would never end. "Dally's going soft!" "Not so tough anymore Dal" I don't think I could take it. But, I hated seeing her like this. Our quiet innocent little Avery all wasted and hurting. It's killing me. But, we all need a break from reality sometimes, even her.
We danced and danced even after the song ended, she kept drinking, but I stayed sober, I felt like I needed to watch over her make sure she doesn't do something too stupid. She's is like a sister to me, and even though I never show it I love her.
A/N
Hey everyone! How did ya like it? I thought since the last chapter was so short I would write a long one this time. Did you guys like Dally's P.O.V? I thought that I would reveal the pressure that he's put under to be the 'tuff' one. Next chapter might be up tonight but if not it'll be up by tomorrow.
