This originally was just supposed to be a stand-alone oneshot inspired by the song with the same title as this oneshot but then as I listened to "Can I Have This Dance" for like the billionth time and then watched the "music video" for said song (which I have on the oneshot but check out the video on Youtube), I wanted to write something that was like the middle part of the song.
Where Kevin is being suave in being the one to ask her to dance and them being in actual prom. So, since I was writing this to be prom related anyway, why not write this to be connected to the "Can I Have This Dance?" one shot?

Red happily hummed to herself as she continued to straighten her hair, getting herself ready for one of the biggest nights of her and Kevin's life. She had been counting the days until prom arrived ever since Kevin, her best friend that she had been secretly crushing on, asked her both to prom and to be his girlfriend. And ever since, the girl could barely keep her giddiness inside.
"My little girl is finally becoming a lady, huh? Well, I guess she technically started becoming a lady the moment she got a boyfriend." Her father suddenly entered her room, going over to mess with her hair like he usually does.
"Ugh!" She groaned, stopping her father before he could even have the chance. Then she pouted as she looked up at him. "Dad! It would make me really happy if you didn't do anything like that. Just for tonight, even. Can you do that or is not playfully tormenting your daughter too hard for you to do?"
"Hmm..." Red's father tapped on his chin before hugging her tightly from behind. "Alright, fine. Just for tonight. I just can't believe it... My little Rebecca is all grown up now... I miss my little Rebecca who would run around in her mother's clothes saying she's a model and who loved being mischievous with her father... But I know we can't stay the same forever..." He pretended to cry, giving a small sniff.
Red gave a playful eyeroll at her father as she turned around to hug him back. "Dad... First off, chill out. I'm just going to my senior prom tonight, not getting married or moving out. Well, not yet, at least..." She snickered, letting out a few giggles. "Also, don't worry, dad... I still am and will always be your mischievous little girl!" She laughed softly as she pinches his cheeks. "That will never ever change! Just ask my boyfriend even!"
Her father seemed to cheer up at her words, only to let out a sigh at her last sentence. "Speaking of that boyfriend of yours, he better not have any ideas just because it's your senior prom. I swear if he-" Red immediately cuts him off by covering his mouth, her face really red.
"Dad, please! You know Kev is not that kind of guy! I told you countless of times already! So, don't worry! Your little girl isn't getting pregnant any time soon!" She sighed as she puts her hands down. "Now... Does my sweet and handsome father mind getting out of my room so I can finish getting ready?" She sweet talked him, knowing that would get her father to leave.
"Aww! Alright then! But only because my beautiful daughter complimented her father on his looks." He chuckled as he gave her a few gentle pats on the top of her head before heading out her room, stopping before fully getting out of the door. "Oh, right! I completely forgot what I came in here for in the first place! Kevin is already downstairs, hun! Okay, see you!" He closes the door behind him.
"Excuse me, what?! And you didn't start with that when you got in?!" Red screeched, groaning as she got up from her vanity and hurriedly takes off her black robe then puts on her black prom dress and slips into her high heels. "How long has Kevin been waiting for me?! Dad!"
