Y/N POV
~ a few weeks later~
Me and Thomas are walking through the glade.
"I'll race you to the kitchen to get lunch" He winks at me
"Game on" I wink back
"Reade, set, GO"
We both start running as fast as we can. Thomas is behind me, but only by a little. Thomas sticks his foot out infront of him and trippes me over.
"Hahha, I'm gonna win" He laughs not even looking at me.
When he trips me, it sends me rolling over the grass, making me land on my leg wrong.
Newt POV
I'm eating my luch when I see Thomas take a seat infront of me. He and Y/n have been getting closer the past week, but this time she is not with him.
"Where's Y/n" I ask him
"Oh, we were racing and then she fell over somewhere on the other side of the glade. I won obviously" He smirks
My hands form into fist and I try my best not to connect one of them to his face.
"And you didn't think to see if she was alright?!" I know I'm yelling and that everyone is looking at us now, but I don't really care.
"I- uhh no" He looks shocked, flustered almost.
I get up angrily and run as fast as I can to the other side of the glade looking for Y/n.
"Y/N?! Where are you?!"
Y/N POV
"Newt! I'm here!" I say crying while holding my leg.
"Are you alright?!" He yells worried and runs to me as fast as he can.
"It hurts, Newt, and I don't think I can walk" I cry
He cups my face and carefully wipes my tears off.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. I'll carry you to Jeff to check it out" He says smiling to reassure me
"Thank you so much, Newt"
"You're welcome, love" I see a blush appearing on his cheeks.
"This is all Thomas' fault, arrghhh" I can't hold my frustration in any longer
"What do you mean?"
"He tripped me bc I was winning the race"
"I still don't know why you date him if he treats you like a piece of klunk"
"I don't know either, Newtie" I sigh
"Alright I'll help you up, love"
He picks me up carefully, bridal style. I giggle and he looks at me and smiles while he walks in the direction of the med hut.
"Hey, Jeff. Are you a able to look at Y/n's leg? I think she dislocated it"
He immediatly speaks when we get inside. Jeff turns around.
"Yeah, sure. Just put her on the bed"
Jeff takes a quick look at my leg and then turns to Newt.
"I guess you're right Newt"
He looks back at me, the look in his eyes make me nervous.
"I need to put your knee back into place, Y/n. You dislocated it"
I glance at Newt and he looks back at me worried.
"I- uhh okay" I say scared not yet tearing my eyes away from Newt's.
Newt walks over to me and holds my hand while Jeff tries to put my knee back into place.

Newt helped me out with my sore leg for about a week, making sure I was okay. He even carried me around a lot of the time when Thomas was nowhere to be seen.

I sit around the bonfire and look at Newt. Memories of Thomas flash by, but I still smile bc Newt is also in every single one of them. I never noticed until now. He was always there for me and he always made sure I was happy. Then I feel Thomas' arm find his way around my shoulder and he presses me against himself.
"I think I might head to bed guys" I kiss Thomas' cheek
"Whatever, Y/N" He quickly draws back his arm that was around me and he already forgot that I exist.
"Goodnight, love" Newt blushes
I get up and walk to my hut with my head down the whole way.
Newt POV
I stare at her while she walkes away, never taking her eyes of the grass.
"Hey, Tommy? Is Y/n right? She didn't look to good"
"Yeah, yeah, she'll be fine"
I don't like the way Tommy treats her and I clench my fust in an attempt to hold myself together.
"Well, are you going to check on your girlfriend?!" I say angry
"Fine" He gets up and slowly walks over to her hut
Y/N POV
I'm sitting on my bed, thinking how much I love Tommy but how bad he treats me at the same time. When I hear a knock in my door...
"Y/N? It's me, Thomas. Can I come in?"
"Uhhh, yeah, come in"
He walks through the door.
"I came to check on you. Are you okay?"
Wait? What? Omg, he actually came?!
"Yeah, I'm good now" I smile at him
"That's great" He says with a smirk
He walks over to me and I stand up to give him a hug. He hugs me back.
"Thank you, Tommy"
"Don't worry about it"
But his eyes weren't looking into mine... They were looking at my lips... He place a soft kiss on my lips and I look up at him...
"No" I whisper
"What?"
"No"
"What do you mean no?"
"You have to go now"
"Y/N, have you gone completely crazy?!"
"Go now Tommy" I try to stay calm
"You're such a bitch" and he slams the door behind him
I have to go find Newt. The thoughts I had at the bonfire are still playing in my head and I need to see Newt NOW
I run out of my hut and see that everyone has gone to sleep. I pass the sleeping gladers as quiet as I can and find myself infront of Newt's hut.
One soft knock.
Two soft knocks.
Three soft kn-
The door opens slowly.
"Y/N?" He whispers
"Can I come in pls"
He lets me in and quietly closes the door behind him. And then I break... I fall on my knees crying, letting all the feelings out that I have been holding in for the past months. Newt doesn't say anything and leads me to his hammock. He covers us both with blankets, holding me tightly. I can't stop the tears from coming out. He just hushes me and strokes my hair. And he keeps holding me until my crying turns into hick ups, my hick ups turn into sniffles and my sniffles turn into a deep sleep.
