3rd Person
Clarke woke to Lexa's arms wrapped around her back over her waist, resting on her stomach. As she remembered, she had her fight today against Nia. Letting out a large deep sigh, she heard Lexa groan. Not meaning to wake her, she froze feeling comfortable in the position they were resting in.
After another few minutes, Clarke noticed Lexa waking, stretching her muscles. She looked down at Clarke and whispers, "Clarke, you awake?"
"Mhmm" The girl responded, still quite tired.
"I need to get up and train for my fight today" She says completely ignoring the fact she's in bed with Clarke. Also the person who's meant to be keeping distance from her, in order to forgive her.
"Must you though?" Clarke asks, sitting up to turn and face Lexa.
Lexa gulps hard and squeezes her lips together to hold back a chuckle from the sight of Clarkes beautiful, blonde morning hair.
"I'm sorry for changing the fight. But I had to. And I thought it was one of the best ways to make up for everything. I know I told you last night, but truly am so sorry and I did not mean for it to effect you the way that it did. But at the time I felt that was my only choice. I wish I had stayed and fought with you, or at least pulled the lever with you so you weren't doing it alone. I am so sorry." Her voice broke.
Lexa now tearing up, Clarke had decided she heard enough apologies. And since it could be the last time she got to see, or speak to Lexa, she pulled the brunette forward into a tight embrace.
"I understand." Clarke said so softly, that her speech was a blur. Hardly audible. Yet, Lexa heard it. Pulling away so their faces were only inches apart, Lexa was about to open her mouth to speak but before she could, Clarke leaned in connecting their lips gently. The kiss was sweet, contrasted with sadness. Lexa pulled back, looking for any signs of regret, but all she saw was desire. Lexa waited for Clarke to continue if she wanted to, which she did. Clarke leaned back in pushing Lexa down on to her back. Lexa allowed her to lay on top of her, lips still connected only pulling away for breaths, Lexa rested a hand on Clarke's lower back, another buried the under Clarke's hair on the back of her neck, pulling her down and deepening the kiss.
....
2 Hours before the battle
"I'm all ready" Lexa announced, walking out of the weapon room whilst sliding her knife in her side pocket.
"Must you do this Lexa?" Clarke said with the sound of desperation in her voice.
"Clarke, we spoke about this. I need to do this." She replied, starting to get angsty.
"I know but, there's time, couldn't you just leave and hide somewhere?" Clarke proposed, sitting on the couch.
"Commanders don't hide Clarke, you know I can't do that. I already said I'm sorry but I need to do this to make up for what I did and to keep you safe and protected." She sighed, continuing. "It's my duty as Heda."
"This is not just about keeping me safe Lexa!" Abruptly, Clarke snapped in an angered tone. She took a pause at the realisation, giving away her worry she has for loosing the commander.
"Heda, it's time." Titus said in monotone while entering the room.
"Then this is goodbye..." A deep breath left her system, "for now."
Those were her last words she spoke to Clarke, before exiting the room. Could that really be how they end? If Lexa was to lose the battle, those would be their last words. Clarke wasn't going to diminish any hope she had for Lexa, she still believed that she'd win the battle, yet she couldn't help but think about all of the consequences to arise if she weren't to win.
