----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up and snuggled deeper into my blankets. I could smell the detergent, but it smelled strangely good. My eyes peeked out from under my pillow and felt a smile spread across my face. On my bedside table I saw the candy bar I picked up last night, as a sign to my uncle that I was okay. I was amazed I remembered to pick it up on the way home last night, since I was tired. I greedily wolfed down the chocolate. Breakfast for mio.

I glanced around my nearly untouched room. A queen aized bed faced a large television that was mounted on the wall, a bathroom went off of the side of the cream colored room. Snuggling back into the covers, I checked my phone.

No messages. 6:14 pm.

I reread the time, thinking I must have read it wrong. I hadn't. I had slept the day away and I needed to be at the quarries unless than an hour. I had no idea how to get there, but I thought I could ask for directions or something.

Rushing into the bathroom, I got into the shower.I washed my hair and it fell in loose curls down my back and over my shoulders. I walked to my bag an pulled out a black t0shirt and dark blue bootie shorts.

Getting dressed took alittle longer than I would have liked, but once I put on a layer of mascara I was ready to go. I slipped my cell into my pocket and headed out the door. The air was cool, but humid. Getting into my car I tried to think about how to get to where I needed to go. That's when my phone started vibrating. The number wasn't one I recognized.

Meet me at Cammer Bay Park. LK.

It must have been Landen.

See you there.

Driving, I realised that this was my first date. I had never had a boyfriend or anything close to that. Not hat I would consider having Landen as a boyfriend. This was strictly to get information that I needed. I had to get something to go on, still I was starting to notice that each lead was on a short leash. It was a thin line that only led to another thin line.  What if he tried to kiss me? Obviously I had no experience in that department.

I tried to remind myself that it was all about the confidence. The drive went faster than I thought it would and soon I was looking at the bay and pulling into the dimly lit parking lot. It was getting dark and the water looked warm, but dark. Everything seemed still. I pulled up and turned of my car. A man on a bench turned and smiled. Landen.

Now I was starting to think about how weird this was. I really did only know his name. That and the fact that he mines the quarries. I stepped across the dirt lot and was glad I chose sneakers over sandals. Landen walked up to greet me.

"Hello Scarlett. I'm glad you said you would see me again." Landen seemed very excited for our date. I didn't know what we were going to do, but since it was my idea to go to the quarries I guess I was in charge.

"Hi Landen. I wouldn't pass up the opportunity." I was starting to feel shaky. My hands were cold and I got a tight feeling of anxiety in my chest.

You aren't the only one trying to get information here little one. Why the hell would that voice come now?

Shut up. I tried to make it a command but I came out more of a question.

Cold bodies, means colder bodies, but the coldest body...is mine. The strange hymn made me feel sick.
