Blake’s POV

Her mouth was melting into mine and it felt just like it used too. I had pulled into the bays parking lot to do some thinking. I figured out who Scarlett was as soon as I said goodbye the night before. I just needed to know how to tell her. Scarlett had been going to her car, when she turned around and ran into the woods. She must not have seen me pull in.

She was a fast runner, but I was just as fast and could have caught her whether she had stopped or not. The kiss surprised me, but it had been so long since I had tasted her. Her lips were soft and I pulled her closer.

I felt her shake and I smiled under her mouth. I pulled away before she could. I didn’t know what to tell her first and I didn’t want to over load her with information.

“I know your’ name isn’t Scarlett.”

“What?” She asked alarmed. Fear flashed in her eyes and she tried to hide it, but I had known her too long to miss it.

“Raven, we’ve known each other longer than you apparently remember.” Now she backed away, frightened. “I don’t know why you can’t remember….” She shouldn’t have lost any memory of what had happened before, but now she had no recollection of our makeshift life together. “Half your soul is missing, but so is mine.” It was getting hard not to let everything spill out.

“I don’t understand.” Her eyes brimmed with tears. She had never cried in front of anyone but me, even though it hurt to see her cry, I loved that those tears would only ever be mine.

“I’ll try to explain, just come with me? Please?” She looked like she was about to say no, but I kissed her once again and she gave in.

I carried her on my back to my car. She was light and I felt her falling asleep as I walked. I put her in the passenger seat and she jolted awake. “Start talking.” She spoke firmly.

“There’s a place for people like us. No one knows where it is, but all of us with half of a soul are kept there.”

“Then why aren’t we there?” She twiddled her thumbs and stared harshly at the road in front of us.

“Some of us get out, we make a deal.”

“What kind of deal?” She really didn’t remember and it made me want to break down.

“That is for you to later find out, but for now we need to try to get you to remember.”

“This is so confusing, Blake.” She grabbed her head in her hands and held it in her lap.

I wanted to tell her who we were, why I loved her. Why I still do, and how badly it hurts for her to not know. We continued to drive until we reached my house on the edge of being in town.

It was a small two bedroom with two floors. It was only me, so there was always enough space. We got out of the car silently and I unlocked the door and entered, flicking on a light. Raven didn’t even look around the living room she had entered, she walked straight down the hall and glanced into rooms until she found a bed. Walking to my bedroom, I followed her in. She had turned on the light and was lying on the covers.
