After Derek left Meredith asleep, he went outside of them room in a rampage. He was angry. Angry at whoever kidnapped and tortured his wife. Angry at the people who kidnapped his own daughter. Angry at the people who beat his wife.

"Officer Jones, can I talk to you for a moment?" Derek asked as he approached the officer, who was speaking to one of his buddy's.

"Sure." He replied as he and Derek walked to a quieter place. "I have more information on what happened." Derek said, swallowing thickly.

"Come in here." Officer Jones said, leading him to the conference room he had his stuff in. "What is it?" He asked as he held his notepad.

"My wife, Meredith...she told me they had to do a blood test when she first got there." Derek started and let him scribble notes. "And when they came back, she was pregnant."

"Pregnant? Did they terminate the fetus?" Jones asked, intrigued at this and eager to know he had a possible lead.

"No. She said she gave birth to a baby girl. They...they took her away to use her as leverage against Mer." Derek replied.

"Okay. I'm going to need to talk to your wife. Is she awake or should I wait until the morning?" Officer Jones asked. "She's asleep. I just...I can't believe she's back and I can't believe this is happening." Derek said, putting his head into his hands.

"I know. The important thing is that your wife is back, and we're going to do everything we can to get your little girl back." Jones said softly.

"Thank you." Derek said quietly.

Carolyn frowned when she saw her son walking in the hallway. She saw his rugged, sad, and exhausted expression and quickly walked up to him.

"What's wrong, Derek?" Carolyn asked in concern as she grabbed his arm. "Mer...I can't...it's too much." Derek said as he held back tears.

"Come here, come here." She urged as she gently pulled him into an on call room. "She...baby....I can't." Derek sobbed. Carolyn wasted no time in taking him in her arms and hugging him tightly.

"You're okay, Derek." Carolyn said, rocking him slightly. After Dereks fathers death, Carolyn had many nights of just holding Derek and rocking him back and forth until he fell asleep.

Derek calmed down after a few minutes and sat down. "Tell me what happened." Carolyn said softly, still rubbing his back up and down.

"Mer and I have another daughter. She-she gave birth at the place. They have my little girl." Derek replied. Carolyn jaw dropped in shock.

"And Meredith....she gave birth by herself from a placental abruption and she wasn't given any pain killers. I mean, who knows if they even stitched her up properly? They took everything from me for 3 whole years, and they still have my daughter." He explained.

"Oh, Derek. I'm so sorry." Carolyn whispered. "We have to get her back. She's my daughter, mine and Merediths. I want to keep her safe and hold her and I want her to know she has loving parents." He said.

"She'll come back. Let the police and FBI do their jobs. You and Meredith need to try to stay calm and she needs to recover." Carolyn said.

"I feel worthless. I don't know how to help Mer, I don't know how to find the bastards who did this, and I don't know how the hell to get my daughter back." Derek admitted.

"That isn't your job, Derek. The police will catch who did this and they will get your daughter back. The only think you need to do is be there for your wife, I know how much you missed her. She's comfortable with you, and probably a night of sleep together won't hurt either of you." Carolyn replied.

"I'll go in her room." Derek said. "Get in bed, and sleep with her. I know for a fact you make her feel safe, so if she's awake, just sleep with her." Carolyn answered softly.

"Okay. Thanks mom." He replied, getting up. "You're welcome. I love you, Derek." Carolyn said. "I love you too mom." He replied as he left the room.

Derek went into his wife's room and was surprised to find her awake. "Hey." He said quietly, not scaring her for once. "Hi." She replied.

"You okay?" Derek asked softly as he walked over to her. "Can't sleep. You?" Meredith responded. "I'm okay. Do you....can I lay down with you?" Derek asked hesitantly.

Meredith took a minute before nodding. It was just Derek, and Derek would never hurt her. Derek was safe.

He carefully got into the small hospital bed and laid there. "You can touch me." Meredith said in a quiet voice. Derek smiled slightly and wrapped his arms around her.

"Is this okay?" Derek asked, feeling slightly relaxed already. This was what he needed.

"It's good." Meredith confirmed, even snuggling further into his embrace. "I missed this. When you left, I had a hard time sleeping without you." Derek admitted. "I'm sorry." Meredith said, guilty that she wasn't there to confront him.

"Not your fault.  I just...I'm so happy you're okay. And Mer, we'll get our daughter back, I promise you." Derek whispered. "I love you." Meredith said softly.

"I love you too. Just sleep, you're safe with me. I'll protect you from the bad dreams." Derek said with a grin. "I even missed your corniness." Meredith joked. "You love it." Derek said as he kissed her neck gently.

Meredith fell asleep, in the warm and safe embrace of her husband. Derek let himself drift off as well, feeling somewhat content holding his wife
