Chapter 1: Olympic Dream

Y/N POV

—Relax Y/N it's just an interview...—
"It's not that...tomorrow is the day of our departure...Tokyo 2020, well 2021..."
—Crazy Right? Finally you'll have your redemption, in particular with laser...—
"Yeah. I worked hard for this, and i just want to bring home that gold medal"
—your efforts will pay off, don't worry mate...—

As we were walking through the corridors of Team GB building, a lady made us some signals to come closer.
-Hello, are you...Jamie Cooke and Y/N L/N?- she asked checking on her agenda.
"Yes, that's us"
-Perfect, now follow me please.
As you were told, there will be an interview each so that fans and the world can get to know you...and after that, you will get some last informations for Tokyo-
—Perfectly Splendid—

As i heard Jamie said that, i turned my head in his direction and just shake it.
"Flora from The Haunting of Bly Manor is just scary sometimes...in particular with that phrase..."
—Oh c'mon you cannot tell me that you are afraid of her for real!—

After Jamie said this, he stopped himself and after have imagined some scenes of her, he started laughing.
—Ok, fair enough...—
"Told you so..." With a little grin on my face i continued to follow the lady and finally enter in the room for the interview.

-Are you ready?-
"Sure"
-Perfect. Present yourself to the camera- with that said, the cameramen started to record.

"Hi, i'm Y/N and i'm a modern pentathlete"
-How did you get started in Modern Pentathlon?-
"I joined during my secondary school and they had a school's biathlon team, which is just running and swimming...so i started that. I did alright and at the time my PE teacher was Kate Allenby, who was an olympic medalist from Sydney and she encouraged me to take up the other three sports, so one at a time i started them, enjoyed them and i'm here today..."
-How has preparation for Tokyo 2020 been going?-
"Really positive i think...we are all training very well, really fast at the moment. Having competition to focus on something again was just like the best as an athlete...that's why you do it and having a year off was really tough on the whole team mentally. It sort of question why you putting yourself through all the hard yards...so having competition sort of back on the schedule really puts a spring in your step.
My season highlight so far would obviously be the World Cup goal that i got at the second World Cup in Sofia...that's the best result i've had all season and now i'm just looking forward to getting out to Tokyo."
-How did it feel to get the call confirming you had been selected?-
"To be honest it was more relief than anything...obviously there was a bit of happiness in there as well...it's like finally confirmed that you are gonna go and it's a dream we've all been waiting 5 years now..."
-Do you have any Olympic idols?-
"I mean someone like Usain Bolt is an incredible guy, just got 9 medals, he's done fantastically well, but the thing i really like about him is just how he's so chilled before all his races. He's really relaxed, like down to earth and he is there for the reason that anyone starts any sport: he just enjoys it and that's really how i try, go out and enjoy pentathlon. I guess i aspire to be like that, but at the same time i have always wanted to be like my own athlete and like sort of set my own achievements..."

After our interviews and the meeting, we decided to come back home to get all checked up before our departure: everything had been ready for days, but with anxiety in the body and the last adjustments, it was better to check.

"And...done..."

After closing the suitcase for good, there was only one thing missing from the list: show up the next day at the airport to go to Tokyo.
This was certainly the beginning of a new chapter: the Olympic dream.
