Remember

MADISON'S P.O.V.

I sit up thoughts racing through my head, and a sharp pain in my stomach. I turn around and scan my surroundings. I know I'm in a hospital, but the question is, why?

I shift some more and see a figure slumped in a chair. I suck in my breath sharply, and let it out ust as quicly when then pain comes back to my belly.

"Nurse!" I call.  The guy wakes up and looks over at me. I'm feeling very scared right now, and all of that fear vanishes and is replaced by excitment. No way! Austin Mahone is not in the same room with me right now! Oh, but he is!

And he looks happy to see that I'm awake. I didn't even know I was sleeping! He bends over and gives me a kiss that lingers on my mouth for a second, then a cold shock goes through me.

This boy is dating a girl named Natilie! Why is he kissing me? I voice the question, not knowing that I did, and when I look up at his face again, he's frowning. Did I say something wrong?

"Don't you remember Maddie?" I shake my head, confused at what he's saying. "I've never met you up close before Mr.Mahone... I've been to two of your concerts, but that was it." I state blankly.

He looks at me for a moment, then turns pale. He shouts the doctor's name and starts walking bck and forth on the hard marble floor.

His expression is becoming darker by the second....

AUSTIN'S P.O.V.

How the hell does she not remember me?!? Her love, her shadow, her best friend. She watches me pace from the bed and is starting to look uneasy, and I know that I'm scaring her, so I stop.  I try to get myself back under control, and walk over to her bed.

"Do you remember anything? Anything about us?" I ask hopefully. She shakes her head again.

"The last thing I remember about you Mister, was when I moved here and you and your mother came to our house. That's all."

My frown gets deeper. I turn to her and loook at her again. Wow. She really doesn't remember. I can see it in her eyes.

I swallow and say the one thing she has to remember. "Love you." I whisper. She tilts her head and looks at me. "Um, love you to?" My heart drops into my sneakers.

I have to sit down! I fall into a chair behind me and take another deep breath. Then I sneak a glance at Maddie. Her expression is very scared. She looks so beautiful. Her hair all over her back and shoulders, but the one thing that doesn't look beautiful is that fearful look.

I hate it.

The nurse walks into the room smiling, asking Maddie if she's ready to go home.

Then she turns and sees the expression on my face and pales.

"I'll go get Dr.Martinez for you." She turns and hurries out of the room, and Maddie gives me a quizzical look. I ignore her entirely.
When the doctor comes in he has a big smile on his face, but when he sees my face, his smile disappears bit by bit. He takes a deep breath and walks over to me.
"Do you want to talk outside?" He asks. I give Maddie one more glance, then nod and head out the door.

"Doctor what I want to know is why the girl I've been with for almost a whole year now can't remember me." I say. My tone is bland, and the doctor has the grace to flush and look sheepish.

He scratches the back of his head and then looks up from his clipboard. "Well, I, um, Maddie is suffering from a little memory loss because-" "I know that!" My voice is raising in volume, and people start looking over at us. I straighten myself out before I let the doctor continue.

"Because she has never had that experience before. Her body ust was shocked by it all. With that being said, she should remember everything in about two to three weeks." My frown is resolved a little.

"She will start to remember things, but bit by bit. The things that she will remember the fastest are things that have happened more recently in her life." I think this over, then go into mild shock.

The oldest memory she has of me is when we first met.

And when I asked her to be mine. Our entire relationship has to be the oldest thing that she remembers, which makes it the last she will remember.

I groan inwardly, not wanting the doctor to hear my hurt, but he senses it anyway, and comes to my rescue. The doctor places his hand on my arm and looks me straight in the eye.

"She will remember the most recent times you two have been together, which means she'll know that you are her..." He trails off, not sure what to say.

"Boyfriend." Her one and only. My smile is back in place by the time we start walking back to the room.

MADISON'S P.O.V.

Austin walks back into the room with the doctor smiling. He walks over to my bed and picks up my hand. He brings it up to his  lips for a kiss.

"C'mon Maddie. We're goin' home. It'll get better. I promise." When he let's go of my hand and walks over to talk to the nurse, something starts inside of me.

It felt like a spark.

All I hope, is that this doesn't end up in flames.
