Irene's tears seem to run out but she's panicking as hell as she helps the nurses to push the stretcher where her daughter is currently lying down.
"Hang on baby, we're near, please hang on," she says repeatedly as she holds her daughter's hand tightly.
She can't even look at Mavis because she can't get herself to watch how her daughter is struggling. Mavis is getting pale while trying her best to catch her breath and get some air to fill her lungs but she didn't dare to remove her gaze from her mother.
"Ma'am, you have to stay here," a nurse blocked Irene as the others continue to push the stretcher inside the room.
"I'm here baby! I'll wait for you!" She shouted while tiptoeing to look for her daughter.
The nurse left when the door was already closed so Irene immediately stands against the door to take a peek inside but she can only see blur images.
She walks away then back to the door then sits down at the bench beside it. She bites her nails while tapping her foot on the floor then stands up again to take a peek inside. She's nervous as fvck.
"Irene/unnie," Chaeyoung, Suzy, and Jennie arrived, panting.
"She's inside, she's inside. The doctor's taking care of her. She will be fine." Irene said even if the girls didn't even ask anything.
"Hey, calm down," Jennie sat down beside her and rub her back.
Suzy runs towards the vending machine to get them water and came back handing one to Irene first and to the other two.
Irene immediately drank on it and continue to tap her foot on the floor. She stands up again to take a peek at the door before sitting back down.
"You need to calm down, Irene, Mavis is going to be fine," Chaeyoung said, holding both of her shoulders to stop her from moving because she cannot seem to stay sitting in her place.
"I'm calm," Irene said while biting her nails. "I'm fine," she said even though she keeps on tapping her foot on the floor.
They just let her and take a seat too. Minutes later, the door swung open making them stand up.
"Who's the mother?" The doctor asked, looking at them.
"It's me," Irene went in front of him.
"I'm gonna be frank with you," the doctor sigh. "She's not well, and she needs a surgery as soon as possible, but only if you will permit - "
"Do everything just to save her! I will pay just please, please save my daughter," Irene begs.
The doctor nods his head in understanding. "We will transfer her to the Operating room now,"
The nurses started pushing the stretcher out of the room. The girls look at Mavis worriedly who's now unconscious with wires and oxygen attached to her body.
"The surgery will take three to four hours, I suggest you to rest and eat while you wait, we'll do our best to save her." The doctor said and smiled at her before walking away.
Jennie placed her hand above Irene's shoulder which startled the latter.
"Let's go to the canteen first, unnie, you need energy to take care of her once the surgery is done," Jennie said to make Irene eat because she knows that the older won't do anything but stand and wait for Mavis.
Irene nods her head but still looking in the direction where the nurses take Mavis.
"Let's go, Irene," Chaeyoung stands in front of her to snap her out of her thoughts. She holds Irene's arm gently and turns her around so that they can leave.
