Chapter 13- L'Manberg Chaos

“So why are you doing this again?” I asked Wilbur and Tommy, who had just come to me with a plan: run unopposed for president of L’Manberg. Chat was really excited about this idea for some reason.

“We’re hoping that by tricking them into believing they chose us to be in power, we’ll earn the respect of the other citizens.” Wilbur answered confidently.

“Yeah, and we want you for campaign manager.” Tommy added.

“Uh huh. And making me campaign manager has no base in me being the only American in L’Manberg, right?” I said sarcastically. I glanced over at the screen where I had their facecams up. Tommy was looking into a corner comedically and Wilbur was trying to look innocent and deny it.

“Look, will you do it or not, Nyx?” Wilbur asked hurriedly.

“Well, this all seems like it might work. Do you two have your political stances or empty electoral promises written down somewhere? Because if you wanna make it convincing we need the whole bit running smoothly, especially with me as campaign manager.” I replied. Wilbur silently celebrated at me agreeing before sending Tommy to get him a book to write down their ideology. 

They quickly got through the empty politician promises and put their signatures in the book. They were bouncing around and talking about how to make promises that were believable enough to win but big enough they could claim it was in the works just taking a while.

“This seems pretty good, actually. At this rate, they might actually believe this.” I commented in surprise. I knew it was in the script, but it was genuinely convincing and good. If Wilbur ever decided to leave streaming, he’d make one hell of a politician. 

“What are you three up to?” Quackity asked brightly as he joined the call.

“AYYYYYE BIG Q! We’re running for president of L’Manberg unopposed.” Wilbur answered.

“Wanna hear our policies, Big Q?” Tommy asked in excitement. Big Q agreed and Wilbur read off the contents of the book to him. Then Big Q dropped the rather forced bomb from the script: he would run against us, as SWAG 2020. “Wait you can’t do that! We’ve already closed the ballot!” Tommy laughed at him.

“No Tommy I didn’t sign the book!” Wilbur shouted mournfully as Quackity cackled. Quackity quickly had himself added to the ballot and started shouting his campaign at anyone who’d listen.

A few days after, we had all agreed to a debate between our parties. Tubbo had of course came on as Tommy’s right hand man and was going to be our mediator, since there was literally no one on this SMP who genuinely was unbiased on this matter. Quackity had found a running mate: GeorgeNotFound. We went up to Tubbo’s physics-defying Courtroom to have the debate, which Karl decided to join in on. We had a few minutes to have a chat with our party before the debate started. “We’ve got this in the bag, right Nyx?” Wilbur asked smuggly.

“Well, they’re idiots; but they’re charismatic idiots and as an American, those tend to do great. So, our chances aren’t bad, but don’t get too cocky, Wil. We remember what happened last time.” I replied logically. Wilbur frowned and turned to Tommy.

“What do you think, Tommy?” Wilbur asked. Tommy smirked.

“We’ve got this! Those idiots don’t stand a chance!” Tommy shouted enthusiastically. I sighed heavily as we left the little closet we were using as a meeting room. Gogy and Quackity soon rejoined the VC, George was quiet-- like usual-- and Quackity was screaming excitedly-- also like always. We kicked off the debate with our Presidential Candidates, VPs and campaign managers sitting behind them-- Karl had decided to take up the position for SWAG 2020 so that he could be involved too. 

Tubbo entered Big Law mode and asked our candidates to list off their policies. Wilbur and Quackity did so and were going absolutely feral with each other for no reason besides it entertained Chat. So, this was perfectly representative of an American Presidential Debate.

After a while and some more pointless questions, it was Tommy and Gogy’s turn. Tommy of course was being chaotic while George only spoke when it was his turn or to roast Tommy. 

While they were two minutes from driving to each other’s house to fight IRL, I noticed Karl dancing back and forth in his in-game-chair and waving at me-- presumably because he was bored. I smiled and started doing the same. After about half a minute, it was Karl and I’s turn. We met in the middle and “shook hands” before returning to the podiums for our questions.

“Why should people vote for your candidates? I flipped the coin and it’s Nyx’s turn first.” Tubbo said.

“The viewers at home should vote POG 2020 because it’s best for our country; after all, Quackity isn’t even L’Manbergian AND he’s an American, and Gogy fought against L’Manberg’s freedom! Who would be better to run the country than the two people who fought to have it to start with?” I answered.

“Mhm, excellent, excellent, Karl Jacobs, your response?”

“Uhhhh I don’t know, I just wanted to be included.” Karl said, giggling. After a few more questions which I answered competently and Karl continued to be Karl, the debate was ended.

It was finally the last lore stream before the Election, and everything I’d been asked to set up was finally done. A lot was planned for this stream, and we hoped it would all run smoothly; well, as smoothly as we’d planned. 

~you guys all know how this part went so I'm skipping ahead~

So, it was official, my character's biological father was running for president, against the people I was closest to. Niki and Fundy were also part of the election as Coconut 2020, but they weren’t really much of a threat. I ended stream on an angst note of my character wondering off by herself and having a very heated debate with herself if she should talk to Schlatt about him being her father before the election.

Hi, Nyx here. So this is a very short chapter cause I'm working on the rewrite but I wanted to get something new out to you guys that didn't involve anything romantic to start with in the prewrite phase. Anyway I think I'm going with a romantic Tommy angle just because I'm better at writing romance and if I get bored I'll change it to full platonic.
