"Brielle?" I say when she enters the room and slowly comes to me. Why is she looking at me with so much pain? Did they hurt her?
She sits on the chair next to my bed and for the first time since I met her, she cried. She has never weptst. Not even when that guy had cheated on her back in college. She wipes her tears and comes to me as she hugs me.
"Roselyn I'm sorry. I was not here. You are in pain." She sobs, "In a hospital bed. You look sick." She says and my heartaches. She is crying for me? I don't blame her for not being here. I hate myself for dragging her into this mess. For putting her life in danger. But here she is crying because I'm injured. I was at least saved by Arosio while she was with some other man who took her.
"Bri, it's nothing. I was worried about you Brielle. I thought I would never see you." I feel the cloth sticking to my skin due to her tears.
"I'm glad they took me instead of me. I don't think I would have been able to see you in pain, Roselyn. And I was not harmed even a bit. The man didn't do anything." She pulls away from me and wipes her tears, "That man took me to Elena and Alberto the same evening. I thought he sold me to another man but Elena told me Arosio was the one who made sure I was safe. At least Arosio had the decency to save me after everything he did to you."
So, he saved her yesterday even before he asked me to marry him.
How will I tell her that I'm married now?
Married.
The word sounds unbelievable even to me how in the world would she believe it to be true?
"What are we going to do now Rose?" She asks.
"There's something you should know," I say. At this moment I just want to die. Nothing else. Everything feels too much. All of it.
"Yeah?" She appraises.
"I'm married," I say fast. However, she understood it.
She laughs a little and speaks, "Yeah? And I have a kid."
"I'm not joking Brielle."
"What do you mean by your not joking? Who did you marry? And how can you marry someone when you don't even have a boyfriend? Also, I just saw you yesterday, and as much as Adriana has told me you've been in the hospital ever since."
"You met Adriana?"
"Yes, right before I left the hotel she had arrived." She reveals and continues after pausing, "She is very nice. But I didn't talk much after learning she was his sister."
"Don't hate her. She is nothing like him." They are two different versions of Romano children.
"I know that, but I thought she might tell him something." She says thoughtfully as if Adriana is a spy and ponders the same question, "What about marriage?"
"Arosio." I say and continue swiftly seeing she was about to say something, "I married him. Right before you came, I signed the papers."
"Why would you do that?" She gasps.
"I love him and I knew it hurt him to be away from me so, I asked him to marry me." I lie looking straight at her eyes, not wanting her to see through my words, "He arranged the papers, and we're legally married now." Her face told me she didn't believe me, not even a bit.
"Roselyn, I know you and you're lying. You don't love him." She states and opens her mouth thinking hard, "He blackmailed you, didn't he?"
"No." I shook my head. No way did I want her to know she was the reason behind my decision. I didn't want her to be hard on herself knowing it. She might think about this for months wondering what could have been different if she was not taken.
