《 A P O L L O 》
The flight was long, and I had tried to sleep for the most of it, Laike had been dead to the world for the last couple of hours, her face was so innocent when she slept. Her pale features were finally at a standstill, her freckles prominent, now that she wasnt scrunching up her nose at a comment she didn't like or a book that she found amusing, her face lighting up when she smiled, and her ocean blue eyes sparkling. But I couldn't see that here, I could just admire her with her sparkling blue eyes hidden, and her bright smile gone.
I had woken up with Laike snuggled against me, with my arm draped over her. I couldn't believe she wasn't overheating, a big hoodie, a thick blanket and my body heat radiating onto her. What reassured me that she was sleeping peacefully was that she had not waken up once since she had been asleep next to me. That was a thing that happened when you have a soulmate, like I do.
That still sounds unnatural to me, anyway, when you have a soulmate, you can calm them, that's why Laike has been so at peace. I remember when I first met her, how I...burned her. In the most literal sense. The burning has stopped because I had accepted Laike, and most surprisingly of all, she had accepted me, flaws and all, even though how much I had harmed her, treated her like utter sh*t on the bottom of my shoe, she had still accepted me.
"Apollo?" A shaky voice whispered, even though it was quiet, I immediately woke up, too see two bright blue eyes staring up at me, two eyes that belonged to the most beautiful and unique girl I've ever met. "Yeah?" I whispered back, subconsciously pulling Laike closer to me, I froze when I'd realised what I'd done, I was getting so used to being with Laike right by my side, that I'd forgotten that she still doesn't trust me yet.
Surprisingly, Laike leant back into me, before tilting her head up to talk, "We're supposed to be arriving in an hour" I nodded at her before looking back at where Spirit, Everest and Axton were supposed to be sitting. Spirit was asleep, leaning on Axton, while Everest was leaning on her. In front of us, Rory and Darcey had significantly quieted down, but were still muttering on about something or other.
I turned back to look at the gorgeous redhead, "What are you most nervous about when going to Australia?" Laike snuggled into my chest, it was comforting not only to me, but for her. Even if she didn't exactly want to be this close to me, her body reacts to mine in such a way, that if her mind was racing and her anxiety was through the roof , she would be naturally drawn to me for a reassuring feeling.
"This all feels like too much" She murmured, she had been really quiet since she found out she was adopted, "I only just found out am adopted, my whole life was a lie, and now we're going to Australia." I nodded and gently raked a hand through her hair in a soothing way, "I know it was sudden, but there's something we need to show you in Australia." It was then I realised that I hadn't told Laike that we were soulmates.
Oh sh*t
