Now I want to clear this up before we start! This chapter and a couple following explain how Shelby met Spencer, how they got together and stuff like that. This is leaves off right after the chapter "I've got a secret, it's on the tip of my tongue" chapter in my last book. So if you after lost or forgot something you can read that then this. Alright. Good!

"Look how well that turned out". I glared at Balz and tossed a hard pillow at him. "What I didn't mean it. It was a joke". I rolled my eyes.

"Asshole". I flipped him off as I went into the kitchen and heard my phone chime with a text message. Probably just Chris giving me some excuse. I opened it up and to my surprise it was Spencer.

Now Spencer was a guy I worked with on a photo shoot about a year ago or so? Honestly can't remember but it was shortly after I started working for the Big Red which was the nickname I gave up my boss Megan since she was a bigger girl. That and it reminded me of the movie Bring it on.

"Hey Shelby, it's Spencer. Not sure you remember me or not lol"

"Of course, how could I forget? What's up. It's been a long time".

"I was wondering what you were doing tomorrow? I have the day off and wondered if you wanted to hang out"

"Sure! Want to go out dinner or something?"

"Sure! We could go out around 6"

"That works but listen I've got some friends over so I will text you later"

"Ok, have a good night!"

I walked back to the guys. Amber and Balz were fighting because Balz cheated in the game which wouldn't surprise me one bit. And Ricky was smoking a cigarette with his feet on my table. "Ricky Olson!" His eyes shoot open wide. "Outside".

He quickly dashed off the couch and outside. I followed in his footsteps. "We don't smoke in the house, you know that!". "Sorry Shel". I smiled widely. "I have a date tomorrow". "Already? Dang!". I glared at him. "Don't tell Chris about it". He nodded in agreements. "Well listen you and Balz are welcome to stay but I'm going to bed. It's been a long day". "Eh we're going to head out". "Alright goodnight you guys, love you". They a all answered at the same time "love you".

The next day when I woke I felt a sense of comfort that I hadn't felt in awhile. Maybe it was the fact that I was trying to change things. Be positive. Not to mention going on a date with someone new.

I rolled over and grabbed my phone to check.

Spencer- Good morning beautiful. Hope ya slept well. I can't wait to see you tonight. I made plans for us after dinner. I hope that's ok

Chris- hey I hope you're alright.

I wasn't even going to reply to Chris. He didn't deserve it. No strike that I didn't deserve it. I didn't deserve to put myself threw the heart ache. I groaned at his text and decided to just text Spencer back.

-I slept wonderfully. Thank you. I can't wait to see you, it's been so long! And I'm excited to see what you have planned.

-I'll pick you up about 6.

I jumped out of bed and headed for the shower. Might as well get the day started. I took a hot shower for about half an hour before getting out and blow drying my hair. I had to put special aragon oil in it and straighten it otherwise it would have been a mess. I got dressed in blue jeans, a black tank top and a black miw zip up jacket then put on my coat and open along with my favorite converse shoes. I pulled my hair up and headed out the door.

I got into my car and started driving to Starbucks. I called Amber on my way there. She was barely awake when she answered. "Hello?". "Hello sexy. Want to go to Ihop?". She groaned. "absolutely. I'll meet you there in fifteen minutes". I walked up and started to order. "Yes can I get caramel frappe with extra caramel and expresso?". "Sure that will be $7.86". I started to dig threw my purse to pull out my card when I heard a familiar voice. "Here". I turned around to see something just as brown and caramel which were none other then Chris eyes. I huffed and knew arguing would do nothing. Especially in public. I bit down on my tongue before saying anything. "So did you just so happen to choose this Starbucks or are you following me?". He huffed something that sounded like a smile even though I still haven't turned around at this point. "I just came here. I wasn't following you but since your here can I have a minute of your time?". I looked at my phone as I was handed my drink. "Fine you get five minutes Chris"

I sat down at a table while he finished ordering his drink. He came up and sat down across from me. "You look good". I held my hand up. "Chris- don't do that please". He frowned and nodded. "Listen like I told you, I wasn't with Megan. I was talking to her so we could spilt things from the house". I sighed. "Chris it's fine. We aren't together, we've never been exclusive. I opened up to you and we had sex. We had bumps in the road with just being that. I know us, we will never settle down. I wanted to be with you Chris but now, I just want to get you out of my head". He stared down at his coffee and honestly I felt bad for the words that I said. I still cared but I can't do this to myself. I sighed as I reached out and lightly touched his tattoo knuckles lightly. "Maybe someday we can be friends again? But it's that or nothing at all". He nodded. "I can do that". He smiled although it seemed pained. "Listen I'm meeting Amber for breakfast. I've got to go". "If you need anything, please let me know. I'll help whatever way I can. Maybe after I come back from tour we can just hang out, all of us". I smiled and hugged him as I stood up. "Alright. That works. When do you leave though?". "In four weeks? Three? I can't remember. I'll see you after though, it's only a couple months".

We walked out together and as I unlocked my door I saw him getting into his. Smiling and waving as he drove off.

I wonder if it would matter to him that I'm going on a date?
