<<<Samantha>>>
Samantha stares at Michael in the darkness, looking him over as he stares back casually, but looking away often. Like the other three in his entourage he wears black skinny jeans, one tear at the knee, his escapee snap back, and a black muscle tee like that first guy, only his isn't as cut up. His skin is so pale it glows in the night, especially against his black attire, and illuminating not only the extreme amount of bracelets on both his wrists, but also the three black band tattoos on his arm, one atop his elbow and two below.
She gawks at them intrigued, not usually into tattoos in general, but the way they stand out on his white muscular arm has her attention locked. Her eyes travel up his arm to his face, shining in the darkness, but a lot of his features still hidden. She can tell he has a smaller nose but plush full lips that look almost pink as her eyes adjust more. His hair is dyed a bright red, as she knew, but she can't see his facial hair to indicate what his natural hair color is.
"So where are you from? You have an accent. The UK?"
"No," he chuckles, "I'm from Australia."
"Oh, now I hear it," she laughs, adjusting to pull her flannel around her tighter.
"To be fair, my accent is all messed up. I lived in London for a year and half the people I work with are British. I live here in the US right now and then to top it all off I left Australia as a teen. So my accent is just a shit show sometimes."
"That sounds exciting though. I'm moving to the UK in two weeks actually."
"Actually?" Micheal adjusts, his body getting closer to hers.
"Yeah, for school. I'm going to college there."
"Wow, that's incredible. I didn't even finish school. I'm a drop out."
"What?" Samantha asks shocked, wondering how his parents could let that happen. "You could still get your diploma and go to college, it's never too late to do things like that."
Michael laughs, irritating her, assuming he's about to come up with some stupid excuse, "It's not necessary for my career. I never did well in school anyways."
"Career? You have a career already?" Samantha asks confused, wondering if he inherited some company or business from a parent.
"Yeah," he says before he looks at her intently, making her warm, "What are you going to school for?"
"I'm going to school to be a doctor. I will be attending Imperial College London."
"Wow, that's fucking cool," Michael nods, "I was never that ambitious. You really want to be a doctor?"
Samantha stares at him, silent as she finds herself unable to lie to him. She has told people all her life she wants to be a doctor, but the truth is, her parents want her to become a doctor. Her passions lie in music or art, but she has never pursued them due to lack of financial support. His presence makes her feel safe somehow, confusing her, but something also tells her not to question it.
"Honestly, no," she says quietly, feeling a deep relief in her soul as she admits this truth to someone else, the only other person who knew gone. "I don't want to be a doctor, but I'm really good at sciences and anatomy and I've been submerged in the industry since I was a little child. It's the best course for my future."
Her eyes roam his face as the wind blows the palm tree about, the rustling becoming loud but peaceful before he speaks up, "I think you should follow your dreams, no matter the cost. It's hard, but it's worth it in the end."
She shakes her head, knowing if she told her mom and dad she didn't want to be a doctor she would lose all their support. And the biggest burden of that, is that she needs to get away from them. She can't leave to the United Kingdom without their money, so she will go to school there so one day she can live far away from them. Then her eyes search him, guessing he can only be about her age, maybe a little older. A highschool drop out telling her to follow her dreams. She finds it quite comical, but also, again, can't help but feel she was meant to meet this guy tonight.
