Cabinet Battle #2

Olivia sighed as she sat down at the table with Madison and Jefferson next to her. They were in another cabinet meeting and the topic was about helping France with their war with England.

Washington then stood up and addressed the crowd.

"The issue on the table, France is on the verge of war with England and do we provide aid and troops to our French allies or do we stay out of it, remember, my decision on this matter is not subject to congressional approval. The only person you have to convince is me, Secretary Jefferson's, you have the floor."

Thomas:
When we were on death's door, when we were needy
We made a promise, we signed a treaty

Olivia:
We needed money and guns and half a chance
Who provided those funds

Madison:
France

Olivia:
In return, they didn't ask for land
Only a promise that we'd lend a hand

Thomas:
And stand with them if they fought against oppressors
And revolution is messy but now is the time to stand
Stand with our brothers as they fight against tyranny
I know that Alexander Hamilton is here and he
Would rather not have this debate

Olivia:
I'll remind you that he is not Secretary of State

Thomas::
He knows nothing of loyalty

Olivia:
Smells like new money, dresses like fake royalty
Desperate to rise above his station

Thomas:
Everything he does betrays the ideals of our nation

Crowd:
Ooh

Thomas:
Hey, and if ya don't know, now ya know, Mister President

Washington:
Thank you, Secretary Jefferson's

Olivia and Thomas walk back to their seat while giving a little fist bump to each other and then Madison.

Washington:
Secretary Hamilton, your response

Hamilton:
You must be out of your Goddamn mind! If you think
The President is gonna bring the nation to the brink
Of meddling in the middle of a military mess
A game of chess, where France is Queen and Kingless
We signed a treaty with a King whose head is now in a basket
Would you like to take it out and ask it
Should we honor our treaty, King Louis' head?
Uh do whatever you want, I'm super dead

Jefferson went over to Hamilton but Olivia held him back. Washington then stepped in front of him and said "Enough, enough Hamilton is right."

Thomas:
Mister President

Washington:
We're too fragile to start another fight

Olivia:
But sir, do we not fight for freedom?

Washington:
Sure, when the French figure out who's gonna lead 'em

Thomas:
The people are leading

Washington:
The people are rioting
There's a difference, frankly
It's a little disquieting you would let your ideals blind you to reality
Hamilton

Alexander:
Sir

Washington:
Draft a statement of neutrality

Washington walks away and Hamilton follows but not before Olivia gets in front of him and glares at him before she says "Did you forget Lafayette?"

Hamilton:
What?

Olivia:
Have you an ounce of regret?
You accumulate debt, you accumulate power
Yet in their hour of need, you forget

Hamilton's glares at her and says "Lafayette's a smart man, he'll be fine and before he was your friend, he was mine. If we try to fight in every revolution in the world, we never stop. Where do we draw the line?"

Olivia:
So quick witted

Hamilton:
Alas, I admit it

Olivia:
I bet you were quite a lawyer

Hamilton:
My defendants got acquitted

Olivia:
Yeah, well, someone oughta remind you

Hamilton:
What

Olivia:
You're nothing without Washington behind you

Washington:
Hamilton

Olivia smirks before saying "Daddy's calling"

Hamilton growled at her but Thomas quickly stepped next to her with a smirk on his face. Hamilton glared at both of them before walking away.

Once he was gone Olivia giggled and said "I think he's gonna remember that insult." Thomas laughed and said "He's probably gonna add it to his list of arguments with people."

Olivia looks at him shocked and says "he keeps a list." Thomas laughs and says "yes, I even saw it once." Olivia giggles and says "I bet it's a long list then counting all of the arguments we've had with him."

Thomas laughs and says "you have no idea, I still feel bad for Lafayette though, how could Hamilton just turn his back on him." Olivia sighs and says "I don't know, I just hope he'll be alright."

Thomas nods and says "you and me both."
