class just ended. you were just about to go home when you saw chifuyu, with someone. your eyes were so tired from all the studying but when it comes to chifuyu, your eyes would lit up brightly. it's strange that he's with someone, he's usually busy or with his friends, but none of them are girls.
curiosity crept in your mind, you took tiny steps and followed to where chifuyu and the girl went to. you tiptoed there; making sure you didn't left any sound. you don't want them to know you're following them, right? they'll probably thought you're a creep.
they stopped after a while, and so did you. you hide behind a wall, close enough to listen to their conversations. you took a deep breath and finally put all your focus on their conversation.
"chifuyu-san, i made a cake for you!" the girl said; slightly shaking.
she's probably nervous.
"a cake? thank you!" chifuyu smiled as he took out his hand to receive the cake from the girl.
"i- had a crush on you for a while."
and she finally said it. that was quick. silence filled the corridor, as chifuyu smiled awkwardly.
"i'm sorry. i'm not seeing anyone at the moment.." he chuckled slowly before he greeted her and walked away; leaving the girl with a heartbroken heart.
well, that's chifuyu for you. you admit that he has such pretty features and he's kind. his smile always warms your heart. he's always near you, but he always felt so far. it's like you couldn't even reach him.
you sighed as you took your leave; no more curiosity. it hurts when he said that he isn't seeing anyone. but what do you expect? you barely even know him, talk about having a conversation with him. well you did, one or two times. but both of you aren't close.
---
"what has gotten into you? i didn't know you like baking!" your friend said as she opened a box with a cake you made inside.
she opened the box happily; not until she saw how it was inside. it was burnt.
"that was not what i expected." she looked at you.
"is this even a cake?" she pointed to the burnt cake as she tried to hold her laugh in.
"you'll get better, i promise! this is your first time anyway, right?" she smiled, patting your shoulder gently.
"well— it is!" you pouted as you scrunched your eyebrows.
"did y/n made a cake? i wanna try!" you heard a familiar voice said.
the guy sat beside you as he looked at the burnt cake you made. his face didn't show any expression.
you sighed as you closed the box.
"it's a fail. it's nothing much." you smiled.
you extended your hand to take the box back to you; but before you do so, someone snatched it out of your hand already.
"who cares if it's burnt? i wanna try!" chifuyu said as he opened the box back.
"wait, no!" you panicked; you don't want him to have a stomachache because of your burnt cake.
"too late!" he replied, munching the cake you made.
you bit your lips as you looked to the ground; scared of his reaction.
"how is it?" your friend asked.
"well it isn't that bad, although it's burnt." chifuyu smiled as he handed the box to your friend to try.
your friend took a bite of it, her expression changed even faster than light itself.
"what do you mean 'it isn't that bad?' this tasted so bitter—" your friend quickly got up from her seat and excused herself to the bathroom.
"you can throw it up too." you said in a low tone.
"no, i think it tastes good enough." he replied as he puts his hand on the table; resting his head on top of his hand as he looked at you.
"you don't have to lie if you're trying to make me feel better." you looked back at him in a disappointed look.
"it's not about how it tasted, it's about who made it and how they made it, and you made it with love." chifuyu said, taking his free hand out to hold your hand.
"i guess.." you looked away; hiding your blushing face from him.
"well then i'm waiting for the next batch!" chifuyu grinned as he rubbed circles on your hand.
"you don't have to say all this.." you sighed again as you pulled your hand and put them on the table; resting your head on top of it and faced chifuyu.
"you know.. you're really beautiful." he suddenly said.
"huh-? thank you..?" you said as your cheeks tinted red; not sure how to respond to that.
"i admit your cake tastes bitter but i always wanted to try a cake from you, it somehow felt.. special." he said as he smiled, his cheeks are now red too.
"why are you blurting out random things?" you asked.
"it's not random. i said it with my whole heart. i like you, y/n. i guess i'm a coward because i'm just not.. brave enough? and i don't know how to approach you.. you're always surrounded by people and the way you smile to others just.. makes my heart blooms you know?" he bit his lips to hide his smile.
"tell me you're joking."
"i'm not." he put his arm on top of your head.
"i.. always liked you too."
"are you the one who's joking now?"
"of course not.. dumbass."
