After the ceremony, everyone went to settle into their dorm rooms. Whilst making my way, I walked past groups of people, hearing things like:
"I didn't know there were any Crouch's Left," and " I'm surprised Dumbledore even let someone like THAT into a school such as this."
I didn't know what anyone meant, maybe my family gained a little bad rep whilst attending Hogwarts, but my mind was set on getting the best out of my learning experience.
Finally, I arrived at my room which I was glad to be sharing with Luna and a girl named Cho Chang. All night Luna told me stories of folklore and Cho told me of what had happened the previous years. It was all so exciting and I longed to meet this famous Harry Potter in Gryffindor.
Cho also talked of a boy named Cedric who sounded like an absolute hottie, but it was obvious she had her sights on him already so he was off-limits.
The next day came quicker than the one before. Hogwarts school was quite big so I found myself trying to ask for directions but instead getting weird glances in return.
At one point I bumped into Cho and her friends and asked for directions which she did give me awkwardly whilst her friends stared in disgust. After that, she didn't give me a second glance and avoided me the rest of the day.
Classes were easy enough, but what I really struggled with was making friends. Until a platinum-haired boy approached me.
He waved at me, motioning for me to approach a group of his Slytherin friends. Once I arrived he asked "So you are Pureblooded?"
Confused I replied, "I'm afraid I don't know what that is. His little clique burst out laughing and now everyone in the yard's eyes fell on us.
"You can't be serious," he exclaimed "There is no way someone from such a strong Pureblood family doesn't know what they are."
"Well if it helps, I actually was adopted and grew up in the muggle world," I said honestly.
His face grew in disgust "Vile, well I must say it's very peculiar you weren't placed in Slytherin as myself."
"And why is that?" I questioned. Suddenly a girl intervened in our conversation and wrapped her arm around my shoulder, casting a spell (Muffliato) which muffled out the words she was saying.
Finally when the spell had worn off the boy scoffed "You're such a buzzkill Mudblood."
The girl replied, clearly annoyed " Whatever Malfoy."
She then turned to me and said "My name is Hermione by the way, Hermione Granger. I hope he won't cause you any trouble anymore."
I smiled " Nice to meet you I'm Y/N. If you don't mind me asking, what was that he called you? Mudblood?"
Hermione's voice began to crack and she grew a bit silent "Oh, well..um my family aren't wizards so.. since I'm not pureblooded, people like him tend to call us uncivilized names such as that.."
"Oh my, no matter any names he calls you let alone anyone calls you, just know you are a much better wizard than he will ever be," I responded comforting her. After that, Hermione invited me to hang out with her friends which included, the famous Harry Potter and a clumsy ginger named Ron Weasley. They helped me find my way across campus and settle in nicely.
After the incident, people stopped treating me like a virus and welcomed me with warm smiles. For that platinum-haired boy who I soon learned to be called Draco Malfoy, I avoided him like the plague since Hermione said I should do so.
