Carly's POV
Mother finished checking my pulse and I finished the donut Leo fed me, both dad and my brothers along with Kevin just looked at me and Leo
"Is there something going on between you two?" Jasper asked me
"uh no? we're just friends" they just accepted my answer straight away
Leo's POV
I felt hurt by Carly's answer but I try not to show it
I knew that I was the only one acting weird between the two of us
Carly's POV
I looked at Leo and his face, it's hard to explain if he is sad or just not expressing anything because of my answer, Leo sat beside Kevin and ignored me
"well since all of us are here how about we all go out and eat?" My dad said as he stood up
"sounds great to me" Kevin replied
"same dude" Jasper added and they high five each other
All of us got ready to go out and I look at Leo and he still has that expression on his face, we all got out and chose which one of us will ride
In the end, I did try to get to mom and dad in the car but mom pushed me to go to Leo's car instead and asked Kevin to join them in the SUV
So here I am in Leo's car with this awkward tension again as we follow my parents SUV from behind
"you know"
I looked at Leo when he talked
"I was really worried about you this morning, you were bleeding so much"
I feel touched by his worry about me but the way I said that we were only just friends, this feels different
"thank you"
Leo's POV
I was surprised at the sudden thank you from Carly and I glanced at her sideways, she was not looking at me but is looking at her parent's car in front of us
"I really care about my family" she said in a sad tone
"But I feel like I don't belong to my family and every time they said they worry about me it feel like it's forced" she looked at her lap with sadness in her eyes
"But when you said you were worried about me" she looked at me in the eye
"I felt it, your sincerity" she smiled at me, her eyes they look like they're shining with happiness
My heart skipped a beat and I feel the tip of my ears become warm
"so what did you saw in that sketchbook?" I asked her to continue talking to her
Carly's POV
"I think I saw myself in the little girl from the drawing, she was chained and was experimented on base on what I think I saw" I said then a shiver ran down my spine just from thinking about it
Leo's POV
Carly's hand looks like it is shaking in fear, it looks like something similar happened to her and she looks confused as well
I took her hand and intertwined them in mine while my other hand is holding the steering wheel
Carly's POV
Leo just suddenly held my hand, I jumped a little and looked at him with a wide-eyed expression
"don't take it the wrong way, you said I'm a friend and as a friend I think I should calm you down" his eyes on the road
It was the whole ride that he held my hand and we finally arrived at the restaurant, I was about to let go of his hand then he suddenly held my hand tighter and pulled me to him
His face and mine were too close
"if this ever happened again, look for me and I will come"
He looks so serious about what he said
Leo's POV
Carly giggled at my remarks
"fine then you better come even if you are very far" she grinned and let go of my hand as she exited the car
This stupid heart of mine won't stop beating so fast
Carly's POV
When I got out I looked at my hand
"his hand is very warm" I said to myself, I look at everyone coming out of my parent's car and mom came to me
She whispered "so what did you guys talked about in the car?" she smirked
"It was nothing" I looked the other way, she held my shoulder
"I highly doubt a guy that good looking would not be interested in talking" she gave me a smug look and she ran to dad and held his hand
All of us finally got in the restaurant and we got a huge table for all 8 of us, before I can sit mom whispered something to my dad and it looks like he nodded
"all alright guys you know the sitting arrangement," he said and my brother looked at each other and nodded
I was confused when in a flash Matt put me in the middle of him and Jasper
Sean is in the middle of Kevin and Jasper
Leo is beside Kevin and my dad
And lastly next to my dad is my mom, Matt then me
The arrangement
(Matt - Me - Jasper - Sean - Kevin - Leo - Dad - Mom)
If you don't get it this is a huge round table and Leo is sitting across from me, the waiter came and gave us a menu
And after we ordered my dad asked Leo a question
"so what do you do in your free time?"
DEAR GOD NO!!, why on earth would he ask that to him!?
Mom noticed that she saw me panicking in my seat and she gave me a wink
"I just take care of my little sister and help mom" Leo simply answers
"Oh, and what about you?" My dad eyed Kevin
Kevin stopped looking at his surroundings "I play the piano with my sister and do cooking cause I like eating" he grinned
I wish I was just as carefree as Kevin in this situation, it looks like he doesn't feel the tension around the table
After a few questions from my dad our meal finally arrived and accidentally spilt hot soup at Sean's shoulder by accident, the restaurant staff came and offered to help Sean
Mom and dad went with Sean to get him treated for the burns
"you guys can eat, both of us have to be with Sean right now"
And three of them left, they did say they will be back for a few minutes, there was only me, Leo, Kevin, Matt and Jasper at the table
We heard the entrance doorbell open and my eyes widened at the sight that I even looked at Leo if what I am seeing is right
Leo has the same wide eye expression as me, we saw Brittney with her mom and dad sat at the table beside us
Matt and Jasper don't know what's going on but they glance to where we were looking, I realized that only me, Kevin and Leo know what is going on
Brittney wore a long sweater and jeans with flats, she never wore something so covered before
Brittney and her mom looked afraid of the guy they were with, I assume it's her dad
I focused on my meal to make it not obvious that we were observing them but at the corner of my eye I saw a bruise at Brittney's wrist and a slight handmark at her mothers neck that is covered with a scarf
