chapter 12

i just remember running. my legs and lungs were burning but i didn't stop. i needed to be close to someone. Not normani or Noah. I didn't want to see them. i wanted to get away from the life of school and the place i call home. i wanted to get away from the weird thing i have going on with normani.

i wanted to get away from it all.

it was blazing hot and i was sweating bad. everything hursts.

i finally ended up at the one place i know i could get away from it all.

i walked up on the steps and knocked.

" yeah girl i know why would he do that" i heard her voice from the other side of the door.

the door swung open and there she stood with shorts on and one of my t-shirts.

" y/n" she said looking at me.

" ryan" i said weakly.

she pulled me into the house and walked me to her bed room.

" sit down i'm gonna get you some water" she said running out the room.

i didn't want to sit on her bed because i was sweating profusely. i laid on her floor which was cold and closed my eyes.

i heard her feet come in the room eventually. i felt her presence next to me and i open my eyes.

" why are you here why aren't you in school" she asked holding the cold wrap to my head.

" my dad showed up" i mumbled.

she sighed and continued to wipe my face with the rag.

" you ran all the way to my house" she questioned.

" from the school" i chuckled.

i saw the water she had next to her and i stared at it.

" sit up and you can drink some" she said already knowing.

she helped me up and i handed me the bottle. i damn near drink the whole thing before she stopped me.

" you'll get sick slow down" she said pulling the water bottle from me.

" sorry" i mumbled.

" well i have a shift in a few hours so i can bring you to noah's a-"

" No" i cut her off quickly. " i need an escape from them.. i need time.. time with someone who can make me smile faster than the speed of light" i said looking at her.

" you want me to be your escape" she said looking at me.

i nodded my head and she looked like she was in thought.

she smiled and wrapped her arms around my taller figure.

" i think i can do that" she said.

i sighed and kissed her forehead.

" you want to shower" she asked me.

" together" i said raising my eyebrow.

" by yourself" she chuckled.

" it was a nice try wasnt it" i said.

" yeah but all this melanin you got to work for" she said turning around.

" i will trust me" i said with a goofy grin.

she playfully rolled her eyes at me and went into her drawer and pulled out some shorts of mine and a tank top.

" here" she said handing it to me.

" thank you babygirl" i said with a smile.

" your welcome now go shower you smell like sweat" she said pushing me out her room towards the bathroom.

i chuckled.

" ima love it here" i said turning on the shower.
