The agents reached the elevator, as the two hotel security men escorted them to their rooms. "I'm kind of insulted we didn't get TALONS agents," Ryan said to one of the men.

The man was candid. "We're not really hotel security. We are TALONS, kid." The tall muscular black man spoke in a deep resonating voice.

"And you're stuck guarding rooms?"

"Look we're just security, we don't have your abilities. You need guys like us to keep this agency running."

"So you're not really agents?" Ryan asked.

"No, we just do the dirty work so you guys can do your job."

"Is the pay decent?" Ryan raised a brow.

"Enough to support a family comfortably," The other guard, who was a burly white man, answered matter of factly.

His partner then added. "Yeah, the only thing is, I can't tell my family what I do. My wife thinks I'm a plumber. She raises holy hell every time the drain gets clogged and I can't fix it right away."

Ryan laughed, "I bet."

The elevator opened, and the guards escorted them down the hall. The hall was walled on the left hand side. The other side however, like every other floor, was open. Very similar to patios on a tall apartment building, only in reverse, the ledge, bordered with a small three foot rail, worked its way around the entire floor. Ryan could see a maid, two floors down, throwing sheets into her cart.

Mai dropped off her bag in her room and then made her way to Ryan's. When they were both safely inside, she thought. 'What are we going to do?'

Ryan turned off his silent mind, 'Exactly what I was planning on.'

'What would that be?' Mai's thought was strong and angered.

'First, let me set up this X-box.'

'Hurry up,' Mai looked impatient, 'we have a meeting in twenty five minutes.'

'Relax, we have plenty of time. The safe house is literally a couple of blocks away.'

Ryan set up the X-box and put on a game demo. He turned the volume setting loud enough to reach the ears of the guards. He figured the sounds would trick the guards into thinking the two were just involved in some gameplay.

After that, he approached one of the large windows. 'this is going to be tricky.' He thought.

Mai stared at him in confusion. 'What are you planning on doing?

Ryan grinned. 'A repeat of Arch Rock.'

'Out of that window?!'

'If I strap you on facing away from me this time, we should both get on the window ledge, in a squat.' Ryan pointed to a chair off in the corner. 'We'll use that to climb up.'

Mai put her hands on her hips, shaking her head. 'They'll hear the window break'

Smiling, Ryan reached for his watch, 'check this out.'

He then cut a small notch out of the bottom corner of the window, with aid from the laser Damon had installed in the watch.

Mai Lee's eyes widened as she said out loud, "Man, you owe Damon your life."

'Hey, I'm the one who comes up with good uses for this stuff.'

'Yes but Damon had the foresight to create it.'

'Damon just comes up with things because he thinks they're cool. There's little foresight that goes into his thinking.'

Mai shook her head. 'you are jealous.'

'I'm not, you just think Damon is more than what he is.'

'Here, grab the window by the notch I just cut out.' Ryan commanded. Mai did as instructed. Ryan sent another thought. 'Okay, now hold on tight while I cut an opening large enough to get us out of here.'

Ryan aimed the laser, cutting the window right near the frame. Mai struggled to hold the glass, so Ryan notched the other side as well. That way she had a grip on either side.

When he was finished, he also grabbed the freshly cut glass and helped Mai lay it on the bed. The wind strongly blew in the room, slightly shimmying the door in its frame. 'They're going to know somethings up.' Mai's eyes were wide.

'Well we had better hurry then.' Ryan grabbed the chair and set it under the opening, with the backrest toward the wall. 'Turn around so I can strap us together.' Ryan said.
