Another Change of Plans

After a brief delay, the game resumed.  Mai insisted that the ballpark staff bring the two agents to the parking lot, the two teens still wore their ridiculous mascot get ups.  Now the agents could shed them in the parking lot, where it was dark, and leave them in the grounds keeping cart.  The Brewers staff gave the two agents free season tickets for the next baseball season.  After all, the two teens were heroes and had prevented a horrible tragedy from taking place in the Brewers stadium.

Before the game had started, Declan had alerted the parking attendants to put a homing device on the Director's Mercedes,  claiming that he was a prime suspect for illegal scalping.  So now, all Ryan had to do was track the vehicle by using the homing device.  He figured he'd safely make it to the car without the director ever knowing.  With any luck, the director had discovered that he was  Scam Likely's target, and would make sure that the thug indeed made it to jail.  As for why Scam had targeted him, Ryan hoped the director would over look that.

Given that Ryan was Declan's prize, and in light of the fact he had revealed TALONS to their biggest adversary, that slip up probably would not be lost on the director.  Ryan was probably very, very screwed.

They found the Mercedes, unlocked it and found the SD cards exactly where Declan had said they would find them.

Ryan looked at his watch, "We still have to grab one more card and get to Chicago, We'll never make it."

On cue, his phone chimed.  The chime indicated that he had received a text message.  Ryan looked at it.  'I realize you have made a detour, bravo.  I'm glad to have Scam Likely out of the way!'

Ryan realized that the Senator would probably not be happy that he would have to miss his flight.  'I don't think we'll make it before 11:55'

The next text came quickly.  'I anticipated that.  I changed to a flight leaving at 8:am.  But I want the disk by two!  P.S.  you're now going to earn only 2.5 million.  Still enough to retire comfortably on I think.  Imagine that, being sixteen and being retired.'

Ryan stared at the phone with a loathing gaze.  "I have more than that already in a trust fund.  I don't need your money!"

Mai softly calmed the angry teenaged boy,  "separate your emotions from your duty, Ryan.  This shouldn't be personal.  You need to do that."  She put her hand on his shoulder,  "I'd like you to notice that I'm not on assignment tonight.  I came with you because I believe you're doing the right thing.  With out you, the world is going to be annihilated.

Ryan wanted to play it cool, but couldn't help the grin forcing its way on his face.  "With out us!"

"Right!"  Mai cheered.
