When Manon and Julien had made it official, my heart broke, not because I wasn't happy for them or because I thought they were a bad match but because I knew that Julien had won the sad little pathetic competition in his head.

He'd won over my parents, our siblings, our cousins and now my one and only friend.

I go downstairs to the table and get my cereal and milk and pour it.

Julien and Manon walk in all lovey-dovey.

"So Jolie I guess you heard the news." Julien says and she smacks his arm.

"How was your sleep Jo?" She says, pretending she cares.

"We're not friends. It's Jolie to you."I say as I take my bowl and try to go upstairs but Manon stops me by standing in front of me.

"What do you mean by that?" She says and I push past her.

"I mean we stopped being friends the minute you started chatting shit about me and with my brother of all people. 'Oh Jolie is so distant, she never listens to any of my problems.' If it were a fucking problem, you should've made it fucking clear." I say as she grabs my hand and I glare at her. "Now Manon, I'm giving you 5 seconds to get off of me because I will beat the shit out of you if you don't and I am making that clear. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1." She doesn't get off me so I pour the cereal bowl all over her head, rubbing it in. I then get some more milk and pour it all over her clothes for good measure. "Next time, it'll be more than some out of date milk. It will be my fist hitting your face."

I leave the door when Julien pulls me by the hair and I turn around and uppercut him.

"Don't you dare." I say as this time I actually get a chance to go upstairs. I go into my room and slam the door, locking it behind me.

It's never easy living in this house. With Luciel's bullshit rules and his nagging, annoying and abusive as shit wife.

I sit on the makeshift swing in my room as I go back and forth, thinking about how these years of friendship just got thrown away so that she could be with Julien.

As soon as I heard her talking shit about me, I completely hardened over. It was like one more stake to the heart.

I finally decided to stop listening to her and I finally gained true independence. After time and time of speculating, I'd finally made the decision to move out. Nearly all of my stuff was packed and I made sure that I had proof of purchase for everything I bought. There wasn't a lot of stuff. Just my clothes that I had bought for myself.

Today was the day.

I finally had all my last stuff ready in my backpack.

"Hi Gina, please bring my car for me." I say to my assistant as I leave my room through my window, jumping on to the tree and sliding down it as Gina pulls into the driveway with my car. She gets out of the drivers seat and I get it and drive off, dropping her back at her own.

"Thank you." I say as I go to my house and after 20 minutes of driving, pulling into the driveway.

I get my keys and unlock the door and look around.

My first house.

I walk into the furnished living room and sit down on the old sofa, I could've got a new one but decided to get the one from the storage unit that belonged to my parents that I claimed when it went up for sale after passing.

That's when I started my business, all by myself. At first it was a small, independently owned business but I started making major profits and after a year it became a international business.
