Chapter 3: Logan

Song of chapter: Aperture by Sleeping at Last
School was flying by fast. In a blink of an eye, it was lunch time. I go to my locker waiting for Michael and Emma. They had sixth period together which was Drama. That's where they met. It was in seventh grade when they were in the school play together. The play was Annie and Emma was Annie where Michael was the dog. It was funny when Michael had to walk around on the ground. Suddenly, I could hear Emma's laughing. I look to my left and see them holding hands. "Michael, Emma!" I shout. Their heads looks towards me. They start walking in my direction. "Ready to eat?" I ask.
"Starving," Emma says. Michael and I laugh. We start heading towards the lunch line to get our trays. I grabbed a hamburger with peaches and a Pepsi drink. I pay my lunch and sit at a round table with Michael and Emma.
"Logan, what is you and Valerie's Geography project on?" Michael asks taking a bite of his ham and cheese sandwich.
"We decided on Italy," I smirked.
"Why Italy?" Emma asks.
"We chose Italy because we both like Italian food! We were discussing on what type of foreign foods we like and we said Italian at the same time," I say. I open my peaches and start eating.
"Speak of the devil, there she is," Michael points out. I gave him a confused look. Michael points behind me. I look back and see Renee, my ex-girlfriend, talking to Valerie. Oh this can't be good. I quickly walk over to them. I could see Valerie was going to talk, but I scooped in before anything bad was going to go on.
"Valerie! Hey! Why don't you sit with Michael, Emma, and I?" I exclaim. I hope she got what I said. I mean, I think she turned at me when I asked her to sit with us.
"Oh, um, sure," she stutters.
"Cool, bye Renee," I say quickly and take Valerie's hand to where I was sitting before. We sit down and I place my head on the table and groan.
"Who was the girl? I was going to go and get my food when she comes up saying I shouldn't be talking to Logan. Do you know her Logan?" Valerie asks. I put my head up and run my fingers through my hair.
"She is my ex-girlfriend. We dated in our Sophomore year and has never let me go, I guess. We dated for five months, but then I finally realized she was a snob. Don't let her words get to you," I explain. She nods her head.
"I'm going to get my lunch. I'll be right back," Valerie says. We all nod our heads and she goes off to the lunch line.
"I always said Renee was a horrible person," Emma said eating her french fries.
"I wish I believed you guys then. I was so stupid dating her," I say. I take a bite of my burger.
"Yeah, you should have," Michael mumbles.
"Sorry, okay? I was being a douche," I slouch in my seat. Valerie comes back with only a salad and an apple. We all eat in silence. My head was staring mostly at my tray. I look up and see Emma and Valerie signing to each other. "Woah, wait! You know sign language?" I ask Emma. They stop signing.
"Yeah, when we were friends in Middle School, I would go over to her house and she would teach me. I'm basically fluent," Emma says.
"I want to learn!" I say.
