Ally, after accusing me of being stupid because I didn't believe Jesus at first, drove us to Denny's. She's a senior, I found out. She goes to my school.
"Don't act all innocent," she said. "I've seen you and Billy go at it."
"You got it wrong. He attacks me. Period."
"Yeah, right." Ally rolled her eyes at Jesus, who sat in the passenger seat.
"I believe you, Max." He said with a wink.
"That wink implies you don't," said Ally.
"Focus on driving, Ally." Jesus said, still looking to me with a smile.
We pulled in the parking lot of Denny's and besides all the weird looks we received; we had a good time. Jesus had enough money for all three of our meals, maybe even more.
"Why don't you save it to buy a house?" I asked him.
"I'm only here for a time, Max," he said. "I don't know what I would do with a house when I leave." He smiled.
He left a generous tip that day.
I also prayed the first time that night as well.
Ally gave me tips on prayer, which yes, led to her insulting me. However, she taught me enough about prayer to get started.
