That morning was emotional. We were all in tears, especially Ally. "I don't want you to leave, Jesus."
"I know, Love," he said as he pulled her to his chest for what seemed to be 15 minutes. "I know. But I'm not leaving, really. I'll always be here."
Zack asked him if he would always be able to hear Jesus' voice. Jesus responded, "If you seek with all your heart, you'll find me, Zack." They hugged for ten minutes it seemed. Zack cried his own tears.
Billy said no words but clung to Jesus for the longest, and Jesus let him. He made no attempt to throw off Billy. Finally, Billy backed away.
"Max," Jesus said. I walked forward to him. He wrapped his arms around me, "are you alright, son?"
"I'm better than I have ever been, Jesus."
"Good."
"I will miss you, though."
"I know."
"You promise we'll meet again?"
"One day, face to face in heaven. However, you'll find that you'll be able to find me in almost every person, every flower, every sunrise, every sunset. I'm everywhere, Max." As if on cue, a wave of love overcame my heart. I held on to Jesus and yes, we hugged for what seemed like ten minutes. It wasn't enough though.
Then he began to walk away as the sun rose, waving as he left.
We never saw that man again. I found him in the Bible, in life itself as he said I would, though. I was content with that.
