Temporary Peace

Aliesia touched her lips for the thousandth time that day and blushed, remembering what had transpired between her and her '... what? Friend? Boyfriend?' She gulped, 'Lover?'. Heck, she still didn't know.

A week had gone by since the night that Aliesia and Cameron had kissed. Following that she had hoped that they could go back to how they used to interact with each other, but she had been a little disappointed. Their relationship had improved a little, but he was still holding himself back from her, and because of that, they hadn't kissed again. She guessed that he might be trying to give her some space to truly think about what she wanted that kiss to mean and how she wanted to handle it.

But truthfully, she hadn't really been able to come to a final decision. Cameron was the first person in her life, excluding the boy from her dreams, who had ever approached her in that way. No one else had conveyed any romantic intentions towards her. It was getting to the point that her mother, much to her chagrin, had begun to worry that Aliesia might need an arranged marriage if she ever wanted any grandchildren in the future.

It also didn't help that every time she tried to think about what to do that it reminded her of how it had felt and it completely distracted her. She could still feel the imprint of his lips on hers as if it had just happened this morning, and every time she thought about it her face would flush and her body would grow hot. It felt like a mark that she was anxious everyone could see, as if just that had been able to change her. Regardless, she still felt proud to have been able to kiss him and have that feeling of change in her life, which only made her happier that it was Cameron changing things around her.

The biggest concern that she had about the others ever finding out was that people still couldn't accept the fact that she was even friends with Cameron. So she didn't want to have to taint her happy memory with others negative opinions or feelings about her kissing him. Also, how was she supposed to convince them that she could lead them all when they already didn't trust her ... just as she was by herself? She would just have to try hard for them to accept her until she had gained their trust before she would ever feel safe mentioning her growing feelings for Cameron. So, she was going to work on them step by step until they could accept the Derkaz dragons living with them...at least... one day they might be able to.

She stopped her inner ramblings when she heard a soft knock at the door and her head maid called out to her, "My Lady, it's almost about time to head to the training grounds. Breakfast is already on the table when you're ready."

"Thank you Lidia, I'll head down in a moment."

"Very good my Lady." Her footsteps retreated.

'I guess I'll have to think about what to do about the council, the clan, and Cameron later'

She finished getting ready and headed down, the smell of bacon in the air.

'Yum'

Aliesia sat beneath the shade of a towering redwood tree in the training grounds as she waited for her novice students to arrive. A few years ago she had started a beginner's class for the younger children. Her hopes for the class were that she could teach them how to defend themselves in their human forms and how to begin the process of changing. But lately she felt she was doing the class for a more selfish reason than to just help them for the future. Ever since she had had that talk with her mom she felt that everything she did was being tainted with the ulterior motive of making the others around her see her in a more favorable light. It was a sick political move that soured her stomach, but she had to do it... in order to at least try and sway the people's favor her way.
