"Surely theres a way of setting it so we know where were going?"
"Well maybe if you stopped pressing so many buttons, give it here, let me look" Loki snatches it from your hand.
"Theres loads of planets on this thing, we could go anywhere, and do anything"
"Loki, this isn't a game, we need to go back to Earth, specifically New York, so just take us there if you know how it works"
He stays silent for a while longer, his concentration on the timepad.
*BANG*
"Shit what was that" you jump up, as does Loki.
"Stay here, i will look"
You aren't sure if that was curtious or Ego, either way, you would rather him be attacked first.
You wait back, you hadn't been outside yet, the time-door took you straight into an empty hut, you have no idea where you are, not entirely sure you want to know. Traveling to and from different planets isn't within your expertise, who knows who or what you may come across. A slight relief comes across you, knowing you have someone with you that knows more than you do, shame its with the callous god of mischief.
He comes back in. You look to him with question.
"There here"
"Who?"
He looks at you like a stupid child.
"Who do you think, the TVA"
"Already! Ok where too"
You can hear voices getting closer
"Quick, just get us out of here"
Loki scrolls through the Tempad, the time door appears and you carelessly step through, within seconds the TVA arrive in the hut, having just missed you.
                                 ***
"Wow that was close" you say as you step out of the door. This time not in shelter. Your foot crunches under you, you step again, your feet creating prints in untouched white snow. Thats when the realisation and the cold hits you.
You look around frantically.
"Whats wrong with you?" Loki looks to you perplexed
"Looking for somewhere we can go, have you not noticed? Its freezing, we will die out here"
He looks to you and sniggers
"Well you might, i however won't"
You roll your eyes, assuming he is being arrogant.
"Im half frost giant, i don't feel the cold"
"Well lucky you" you snap
"Im freezing, we need to find somewhere warm, or even better get out of here"
"Ok, give me a second"
You wrap your arms around yourself to try and gain some heat, shivering and shaking as you stand in bewilderment as he creates a cabin like construction out of no where.
"Are you going to stand there gaping or are you coming in?"
For a second you forgot how cold you were, the wonder and awe taking over.
You shake your head and jog into the created cabin, touching the walls as you walk in, not quite believing how its real.
Inside, a couch, blankets and a wood fire.
Had this been a planned occasion, with someone you liked, you would of said it was quite romantic.
"Here" he passes you a blanket, taking the space next to you.
You smile at him, wrapping it around your shoulders. You stare into the fire, yawning.
"Get some sleep, i will keep watch"
He senses your hesitancy "i will wake you if they come" holding his hands in surrender.
Your exhaustion overrides any argument you may have with trusting him.
You adjust yourself on the couch, sinking into the softness, the warmth of the blanket and fire encasing you, helping you drift off.
***
You wake up with a jump.
"Sorry, i didn't mean to wake you, i tried to move you but it woke you, sorry"
"Move me?" You question
He eyes dart around "erm, well you must of fallen into quite a deep sleep, and well you used me as a cushion, like i said, i didnt mean to wake you, i just heard something so was going to check"
Your eyes open wide, slightly embarrassed at the thought
"Thanks" you shift nervously "i guess i needed that sleep more than i thought"
"I can check out the noise if you want? You can get some rest now"
"No im fine"
"Oh dont tell me you dont need sleep either?"
He sniggers and walks out of the cabin.
A couple of minutes later he returns, a smile spread across his face, the emotion unexpected.
"What was it?"
"I couldn't find anything, nothing to see for miles, however, there is something you might like to see" he tilts his head for you to join him
You stand up and look down.
"Unfortunately i don't think this blanket will be of much use to me out there"
"Oh forgive me, of course"
He nods his head, and in that movement you are encased by a fur lined coat, gloves and a wool hat.
"Now can i show you?"
You look at him, the corners of your mouth raise, quickly diminished by the disgusted look on his face as he is still waiting for you.
"Yeah sure"
"Good" he snaps
You shake your head of any good thoughts you just had of him, any niceties you've agreed is a muse, reminding yourself that it is Loki after all, the god of mischief, he has literally stabbed people in the back.
You follow him out the door, pulling at your coat enduring no cold can get in. You step outside and let out a gasp, for a moment you are speechless and breathless at the sight before you. You take another step, as you watch Loki lay down a blanket. You smile as you take a seat.
"Ive never seen anything like it" you exclaim
"Im sure you've heard of it, the aurora borealis, beautiful isn't it?"
You nod, again finding yourself staring at him a second too long.
You smile at him and look up again.
"You know Loki, you keep doing all these thoughtful gestures and you may shatter your reputation" you smirk
He fidgets nervously, then chuckles "gestures? No, just acts of service, i didn't want to see you freeze to death, and well, this is a sight not to be missed, by anyone, I'm just pointing it out"
You shrug, again annoyed by your own thoughts, seeing a side to Loki that just isn't there.
you really need to find your way back.
