ACT ONE
SCENE ONE
(Kamsy and Jane were waiting for Anita anxiously under the mango tree as she went to answer the prince. Minutes later she arrived...)
KAMSY
Why was the Prince calling you? Or have you committed any offense again? You know that is your hobby.
ANITA
Noooo! You will not believe what he told me.
KAMSY
So, why was he calling you? (Anxiously)
ANITA
"He proposed to me".
JANE
Oh my God!!! "And what did you tell him"?
ANITA
We...ll, I told him that I will think about it.
KAMSY
What did you just say!!!? Think about what? (Scolding her)
ANITA
I told him that I will think about it and I also want to tell my parents about it.
KAMSY
Hmmm...You better think fast... before he changes his mind.
JANE
But, please can I ask you just one question?
ANITA
It depends on the question but anyway what is the question?
JANE
Do you love the Prince?
ANITA
Hahahahaha... "Love is even an understatement to compare what I feel for him". I just told him to give me a chance to think about it but that does not mean that I do not love him. You know am a lady naa so I cannot just accept like that. It will seem as if am cheap.
JANE
Well, that is your business because if it were to be me, I will not let him go without saying "YES".
ANITA
Well, I will tell my parents first and know what they will say about it, but whether they accept it or not, all that I am sure of is that I love him and I will marry him. "What is it by your time"?
KAMSY
I think it is quarter to six (5:45 pm).
ANITA
Hmmm, I have to get going because I need to prepare dinner before my father comes back from work. See you girls later (They all dispersed to a different direction as the light fades)
