As wei wuxian was falling asleep, a hazy memory came to mind.
============Flashback ============
Frost bitten hands and a stomach that has been deprived of proper substance for days, was the pain he went through constantly. Stray dogs on the street were scourging for scraps, and were often seen fighting with a particular small and weak orphaned child.
In the streets, people began to yelp as a horde of stray dogs began to run through large crowds chasing a small beaten up child.
After finally gaining the lead on the dogs, wei wuxian was happy for a bit until a resident bully deliberately tripped the him causing him to tumble over and sending the hard stale bread, in his hands, flying.
Biting his lips, wei wuxian ignored the bully and quickly stood up grabbing the bread and running for a nearby alley.
Swerving in and out of the different alley's, wei wuxian thought he lost the dogs and began to make way to his "home."
Turning around the corner, a small hut was formed in a small corner in between buildings with broken sticks and discarded fabrics. The floor was devoid of snow but it was still dirty and cold.
Sitting down in his "house," wei wuxian pulled out the small stale bread from his chest.
Then a group of growls came from around the corner, wei wuxian knew the dogs found him.
Quickly he got him and dashed for the only exit but was shoved back as one of the dogs tackled him, causing his hand to lose grip on the bread.
Seeing his only meal in days on the ground, wei wuxian tried to crawl forward and as his hand was about to grab the bread, an intense pain came from his leg.
One of the smaller dogs began to drag him away from the bread, terrified wei wuxian kicked the dogs snout.
The small dog let out a harsh yelp, hearing the cry the rest of the dogs went into a frenzy.
All hell was unleashed onto the small child, the larger dogs began to bite down on his body and pulled him into the alley.
The sudden barrage of scratching, biting, and skin ripping sent wei wuxian into desperation as he called out to his dead parents.
"Daddy! It hurts!"
A dog bit his hair and yanked it harshly, causing wei wuxian's face to be decorate with large tears. Another bit his arm and began to add pressure causing blood to surface.
"M..Mom!...Mommy, please! I'm scared!"
His hands were grabbing at the ground trying to pull himself away, but all he could do was break his nails trying to escape. His screams and cries managed to grab the attention of a passerby, but wei wuxian could only make out their figure as his eyes were clouded with tears.
Reaching out his small hand, he begged for help until the largest dog kicked his head, knocking him out.
When he woke up, a small boy was sitting next to him holding his hand. The boy seemed to have sensed him waking up, as he leaned over and pulled the corner of a white cloth to cover wei wuxian more.
Looking down, he saw it was pure white robe.
Looking back at the boy he couldn't stop the tears from falling down once more as he choke on his words.
"Thank you...so much.."
The blurry figure answered with a "Mn."
Fatigue overtook wei wuxian, as he fell asleep but when he woke up he found himself in a large room.
