As I Lay Dying

Salvatore Boarding House

Damon has his arms open and his skin burns but Stefan and Caroline arrive and Stefan pushes Damon out of the sunlight.

"Get off of me," Damon says.

"You're not doing this," Stefan says.

"Just did. Stefan, Caroline, you both know what happened to Rose," Damon tells them.

Stefan uses his super speed and throws him in the cellar and Caroline runs to them.

"We don't care. You're not dying today," Caroline tells Damon.

Caroline closes the door and locks it. Caroline and Stefan look at Damon through the bars in the door. Damon remains on the floor but turns to look at them.

"What's the plan, Superman and Supergirl?" Damon asks.

"Caroline and I are gonna find a way out of this," Stefan says.

"Oh, right. A miracle cure. Good luck with that one," Damon tells them.

"We got Bonnie looking for something, anything," Caroline says.

"Always the heroes, Stefan, Caroline. Just tell me good-bye, get it over with," Damon tells them.

Damon starts coughing and rolls onto his stomach. He coughs up some blood on his hand.

"Lie still. Conserve your strength," Stefan says.

Caroline and Stefan leave.

Mystic Grill

Stefan and Caroline call Alaric using Stefan's phone.

"Sorry, you've reached somebody who's currently not operating," Alaric tells them.

"We need your help," Caroline says.

"Well, you must have me confused with somebody else. You see, I'm not allowed to help, just idly sit by while my girlfriend gets sacrificed on an altar of blood," Alaric tells them.

"Damon's dying," Stefan says.

"What?" Alaric asks.

"Tyler Lockwood bit him. We don't have much time," Caroline tells him.

"What do you need?" Alaric asks.

The call ends.

"Stefan, I'm sorry but I have to go meet Elena to watch the Beauty and the Beast movie at the Town's Square. I don't want to worry Elena about Damon until it is the right time," Caroline tells him.

"Ok, thank you Caroline," Stefan says.

Stefan and Caroline hug and Caroline leaves.

Town Square

There's a banner reading "Movie in the Square Presents Beauty and the Beast". Some girls are dressed for the event. Elena, Caroline, and Jeremy are walking through the square.

"You both brought me to see a girl movie," Jeremy says.

"We had to get out of the house, Jer. This is our two-hour distraction from reality," Elena tells him.

"Is that what we're doing? Pretending like our lives aren't screwed?" Jeremy asks.

"We need to do this, okay? Breathe, eat, sleep, wake up, and do it all over again until one day it's just not as hard anymore," Caroline tells him.

They unfold a blanket and put it on the ground. Elena and Caroline kneel on it. Grace arrives with a couple of baskets and places them in the middle of the blanket.
