Miracles.
As the police investigated what had happened to Layla no one would say whatever they knew.
Sam walked through the hallways knowing tha no way dared to speak against him or they will end up like Layla. But what he didn't was the fact there were cameras in the room where Layla prays.
But Sam didn't know was the pair of footprints he left behind when he stepped on Layla's blood.
But unfortunately, no one remembered it. The police were all over the school asking questions about Layla.
"I hope they catch him. This has to stop. Bullying someone just because of their religion", one girl said to her friend.
"You are right, no one deserved what happened to Layla. She didn't do anything except come to this school" her friend agrees.
All the students were talking about how she is. How kind and helpful she is to others.
James was nowhere to be found because that's what the police told him to do. The culprit is still out there and it is very risky for him to be in school.
"Excuse us", a police officer told the student who was standing in the hallways. They parted to see where they were going.
They went straight to Sam as he was about to get into class. They stopped him and arrested him.
"Hey, what are you doing?", Sam asks them. "This has to be a mistake. I didn't do it".
Sam began pleading that he didn't do it but none of the officers were listening to him.
They took him to the police station to ask him some questions, but he insisted that he didn't do anything.
"If you didn't do then tell us your shoe size?", one of the officers asked him.
Sam was confused as to why they needed that but he told them anyway.
"If you didn't do it then explain how your shoe print was found at the crime scene?".
I knew I forgot something. But they still don't know it is me yet. It could be anyone's shoe size.
A knock interrupted them and the officer went to see who it was.
"Sir, the girl's father is outside. He needs to talk to you and he said it is important", he was informed by the person.
The officer excused himself and went to see Liam who was waiting for him. He was carrying an envelope.
"Officer Luke. I have found something that I think you should see", he tells him handing him the envelope that had a CD inside it.
"Okay, come with me", he led Liam to his office. He then takes the CD out of the case and puts it on his computer.
Officer Mike then presses play.
What he saw was a young boy hurting a young girl that didn't do anything to him.
"Thank you. We have what we need to put him behind bars for good. And I am sorry for your daughter, I hope she recovers soon".
Liam thanked him as he was about to he requested to see Sam alone.
Officer Mike agreed to his request and lead him to where Sam was held.
"Here. Take your time".
Liam opened the door to see a young boy who was Layla's age sitting down. One of his hands was handcuffed to the table.
"So, you are the boy that did that to my daughter?", Liam asks him. Sam pretended not to know what he was talking about.
Liam took out his phone and showed him the video. Sam was speechless and knew that he was done for.
"Sir...I", he began to stammer but Liam stood up and walked towards the door before he left.
"Why did you do that? Did she hurt you in any way? I forgive you because that's what my religion taught me", he tells him.
Sam was regretting his actions but what could he do except accept the consequences?
A few days passed but there was no sign of Layla waking up. Her parents didn't want to lose hope that one day their daughter will eventually wake up.
"Layla, wake up. I love you and there's a lot that I need to tell you. Please wake up", Jason tells her. Tears started to fall and they land on Layla's face.
This made Layla's face move a bit. Jason quickly looked at her face to make sure that he wasn't imagining it.
"If you stare too much, I will go back to sleep", Layla tells him. He was beyond shocked to see that she was awake and staring at him.
"You are awake? I have to get the doctors and your parents", he rushed outside the room.
Layla smiled to herself.
Alhamdullilah I am alive and well. I forgive you, Sam.
The doctor returned with her parents and brother. He examined her.
"It is surely a miracle that has happened", he tells them before adding; "She has to stay in the hospital to heal".
The doctor leaves them to be with her family.
"Layla".
One by one hugged her but her mind was on one person who wasn't in the room. But she didn't want to disrupt her family by asking for him.
"Papa..."
Layla was about to tell her father what had happened but Liam cleared his throat and started explaining to her.
"He is in prison for what he did. His parents are letting him go to jail for what he did to you".
Layla wasn't happy about what Sam did as she couldn't understand why he did what he did to her.
Believing that someday or one-day things might change for the better. Having hope and faith that nothing will stay the same because f the great changes that will come to all of us.
