Part 48: The Path of the Right

Armin Arlert could barely move as he watched the body fall. He felt as if his heart had fallen out of the ship with his husband. He felt an arm wrap around his waist as he reached out for his husband, keeping him from falling out of the airship.

"Don't." Jean simply muttered out as he held the boy back from the edge.

"I'm goin' after him." Arthur mumbled as he stomped towards the door before Hange grasped his arm.

"We wouldn't be able to swing back and get you-"

"To hell with that! That's Logan down there! That- that's my baby brother..." Arthur shouted, his voice cracking as he trailed off as his eyes began to water. Levi grasped onto his boyfriends arm, not knowing what to do, but knowing he couldn't lose him too.

Armin stood as he watched one of the scouts close the door of the airship, feeling as if his heart was ripped from his chest once more.

Tears began to fall down his face as a sob ripped from his chest. The boy collapsed into Jean, his body sliding down as he began to shake uncontrollably.

Sasha and Connie stumbled towards the two, still not believing what they had seen.

Sasha was the next one to begin to shed tears, she gripped onto Connie for dear life as the two sat next to Armin.

"He- he saved you. HE SAVED YOUR FRIEND! I SAW IT." Arthur shouted towards the girl who was a bloody mess on the ground.

He didn't get a response causing him to scream in anger, punching a hole in the interior wall of the airship.

"FUCK!" Arthur shouted as he walked into the room holding Mikasa, Eren and Zeke.

"You." Arthur mumbled, anger filling his words as he looked up at the dirty looking boy sitting on the floor. Eren looked up at the man, a blank look on his face.

"Valkyrie... the hell does that mean?" Arthur asked, standing above Eren as he barely contained his rage.

"What're you talking about?" Eren mumbled causing Zeke to stifle a chuckle. Arthur's eyes widened as he turned over to his old friend.

"Next time you open up your mouth without being talked too, I'll fucking kill you. I haven't forgotten about Shiganshina." Arthur simply put before returning to Eren.

"He's gone then?" Eren mumbled, looking down to he feet. This sent Arthur off the deep end, his eyes widened at the boy sitting there as he tried to keep his anger under control.

"That's all you have to say? Are you fucking kidding me? 'He's gone then' WHAT? WAS HE JUST ANOTHER GOD DAMN SOLDIER TO YOU?" Arthur screamed out his eyes going from their normal warm brown to a fiery yellow as he glared down at the boy.

"Oh please! From what he's told me, that boy was nothing but-" Zeke was saying before Arthur grunted and turned on his heels, taking two long strides towards the man. He smoothly transitioned his stride into brining his leg up, smashing it into the mans face. He kneeled in front of the man, tangling his hands in his hair before letting his hand fly forward, smashing into his face.

"Don't you ever, EVER say anything about my baby brother ever again! You utter-" Arthur was yelling, pulling his arm back, about to punch him again when he felt a hand land on it. He turned his head, finding his brother in law staring at him with bloodshot eyes, shaking his head.

Arthur's eyes returned to normal as he sighed, looking back at the battered man in front of him. He stood, scoffing as the man before turning to Armin who wrapped his brother in law in a hug, clinging onto him for dear life.

Four members 104th rode down the road towards the old Braus farm. Armin hung back, behind Jean, Sasha and Connie. He was dreading this more than anything, returning to his son without Logan was something he didn't want to do.
