I suppose I'll have to deal with this child for 17 hours a day.

This goodie two-shoes is probably a tight rule follower. She better not cause any problems if Taka arrives.

I closed my eyes, listening to everything around and letting my thoughts wonder.

If I had to take a guess, 2 hours had passed.

"Um, Mr. Blackquill?"
That girl's hesitant voice was heard as she stepped closer to the bars.
I opened my eyes.

"It's time for your backyard-hour.
If you are interested in going."
So I have a choice here, I see.
But I think I'll take this chance to meet with my clique.

"Might as well go."
I stood up and she opened the cell door.
My new guard put her hand on my shoulder as the guards usually do when they escort us to places.

"Here. Have fun with your friends!"

I rolled my eyes.
I don't need a kindergarten teacher-type to follow me around.
Where is my last guard when I need him?

"Aye! Twisted samurai!"
My fellow friend waved at me.

As death row convicts, we don't have the privilege to be with the other prisoners.
We only meet two other death row inmates in the yard.
Today was one of my clique's friend and another random prisoner who was sitting against the wall.

"Good afternoon, ninja."
I said, while looking at the third prisoner.

"Don't mind him. He lost his mind a little when he realised his punishment will come very soon.
When's yours again?"

"In half a year."
I said simply.
I didn't show it, but anger started burning inside of me.

"That's a shame.
You better find that 'phantom' you keep talking about. And quick."
Y/N was just leaving to take her position in front of the entrance. I hope she didn't hear that sentence.

"And who's that fine lady you brought with you? I thought we are not allowed to meet with other people~"
He teased.

"Calm down, she is just my new prison guard. But I think she'd better go to a kindergarten. Her 'nice' personality is really annoying."
I rolled my eyes.

"Nice? Here?
What's her name?"

"It was Y/N L/N."

My pal's eyes got thinner, as he was remembering something.
"What's on your mind?"
I asked when he finished.

"I think she watched over the inmates next to me before I moved to this part of the prison.
You got quite lucky, I must say."

"Is that so...?"

"Mr. Blackquill, your time is up. Let's go back to your cell!"
L/N-Dono stepped closer.

"Oh, aren't you sir ninja? Great to see you again! ...but not in this part of the prison, I must admit."

"Welp, what can I say?
They found more evidence."
Ninja shrugged.
She... giggled...? How unusual.

"Now, if you don't mind me taking your friend here..."
She put her hand on my shoulder again.

I said nothing.
I signald goodbye to ninja and let Y/N-Dono to escort me back to my cell.

Should I appreciate her kindness?
No one has acted that way to me for years, after all...

I entered my cell and heard the door lock behind me.

"So? What do you wanna eat?"
She is still nice to me.
Why isn't she giving up already?

"Why are you asking me? Isn't it the 'regular' every time?"
She was a little intimidated, but she picked herself together quickly.

"Oh, you don't know? Well, I'll tell you something. The 'regular' are just leftovers of this soup everyone in the prison hates.
But I can just go get your food a little earlier. Maybe something tastier?"

"I don't need your pity."
I looked away.

"Who said anything about pity?"
Wait... she is genuine?

"I'm a murderer.
Doesn't it scare you? Irritate you?"
I just... don't understand...

L/N-Dono didn't say anything in return.
Seems like she doesn't know how to reply.

...
"I'll settle with the 'regular'."

...I don't need her favours.
She is probably just being nice because she is scared of me.
