As we were waiting for the judge to arrive and the trial to begin, Y/N was looking forwards at the defense stand, watching carefully.

I heard the whispers coming from the gallery, wondering who is this 'mystery girl', but Y/N was too focused on watching Wright-Dono and Justice-Dono on the other side.

"Simon. Something must be wrong.
They are breaking under pressure."
She turned her head to me, worried.

"Do you think that... t-that..."

"Whatever happens today, we WILL find the truth. And if something is wrong as you expect, we WILL find a way to solve it."
I reassured her, pulling her closer for a quick hug.

"R-Right."
She nodded, determined.

"Court is now in session for the trial of Mr. Dee Dit. Is-"

"The defense is ready, your honor."
"The defense is fine, your honor."
Mr. Wright and Apollo accidentally cut each other AND the judge off.

"If you say so, defense. Please refrain from interrupting me again."
The judge raised his eyebrow.

"O-Of course, your honor."
"S-Sorry, your honor."
They continued talking at the same time.

How can they be so in-sync yet so not in-sync at the same time...?

"What about you, prosecution?"

"Ready, your baldness-uh- your honor."
Simon quickly corrected himself.
He never calls the judge 'your honor'.
Is it because of me?

The judge himself blinked a few times before brushing it off.
"I see you are not on your own today, prosecutor Blackquill."

"Y/N L/N, Prosecution councillor, your honor."
I presented myself.

"Are you in need of a councillor, prosecutor Blackquill?"
The judge was surprised.

Oh no...
...I hope me being here won't ruin Simon's reputation-

"Maybe I am. After all, I heard that I'm too intimidating."

"Y-Yes, I heard t-this, too."
The judge quickly agreed.
I tried my best not to laugh.

"Hmpf. Nevertheless, I trust no one here will harass my councillor."
Simon crossed his arms, staring at the defense. Apollo and Mr. Wright nodded, intimidated.
Simon's still keeping up the scary act...
Aww, he is petting Taka! Look at this precious boiiiii!

The people in the gallery were murmuring, but I didn't listen. This is what Simon instructed me to do.
"ORDER! Order in the court!"
The judge used his hammer to silence the crowd.

"Prosecution, your opening statement, please."

Simon nodded, and started reading about the case from a paper Taka was holding.
...

What is going on...?
Simon just told everything about the case and it already seems like we are winning.

Then detective Ema stepped onto the stand.
"According to an autopsy that was performed, the victim died from a knife to his back in his sleep. We assume that the killer wore gloves, since no fingerprints were found on the murder weapon, that was found in a bush in the yard, a few meters from the protest group. Witnesses said that Mr. Dit came from the right side of the garden, where the bush was, wearing his usual gloves."
