Chapter 7:

Bang!

My heart stopped,
eyes flashed wide open
and
adrenaline came rushing through my veins.

My surroundings were pitch black,
I was completely traumatized.

And what traumatized me even further thereafter was hearing my mothers' screams.
Without thinking, I immediately jumped out of bed and ran towards her in hopes of being able to protect her.

And there he was, the monstrous figure who wore the face of my father.

My fists had the urge to destroy him completely. I wanted him to experience pain, too. He had to bare the consequences of hurting my mother.

As soon as he made eye contact with me, it was as if he masqueraded that monster with some other innocent person. He immediately let go of my mother and stared at me, studying my face for some sort of reaction.

As much as I wanted to rip the innocence off his face and give him the reaction he deserved,
I ran to my mother instead.

Her heartbeat was fluctuating at an abnormal speed, there were bruises all over her body, and her cheeks were soaked with tears.
Seeing my mother in such a state broke me completely.

I glared at my father with hatred spuming from my eyes, I'd just lost all of my respect for him.

I then took my mother to my bedroom, cleaned her cuts, and tucked her into my bed.
I wouldn't dare let her have to spend the night in fear sleeping beside my father.

She told me she'd explain what happened the next morning.
But I honestly didn't even need an explanation. Regardless of the situation, no man should ever raise their hands on another woman.

Before I could sleep peacefully, I felt the urge to bring Angela to my room too.
My mother and Angela needed my protection.
And I would protect them with all that I have, even if that means getting hurt in the process.

After carrying her to the comfort of my room and tucking her in besides my mother, I felt a bit more at ease.

That night they slept in my bed whilst I slept infront of my door, guarding them from my disgrace of a father.
