It was just another day in a minor city, where Aaron, a 22 year old young adult, was getting up for another dull day. Ugh... It's always just going to college, doing assignments, and heading to my dorm room. He stood in front of his mirror in his bedroom, looking at his own face, dejected by his social isolation. He had no club activities, no social life, and despised sports. Any overnight parties were often run by the rich students who often spiked the drinks with alcohol and the snacks with some hazardous substances, sending all the attendees into 'mumbling madmen', as Aaron put it. He wanted nothing to do with that kind of debauchery.

Grumbling about the obnoxiously loud party in the dorm lobby from last night, Aaron heard a banging at his room door, sounding of irritation or anger. He trudged to the door and opened it to find the dorm manager.

"What the heck were you trying to do!?!?" The 6' 3" man roared in his face.

"I'm sorry, sir?" Aaron queried, exhausted from a lack of sleep, "I couldn't get any shut eye from the chaos down there."

"Henderson said you were the one who initiated that event!!!!" the manager shouted, looked at Aaron's face, and softened a bit, "That's right, you don't attend those things. Sorry about that. Next month's rent payment for you will be cut by 66%."

Aaron nodded in acknowledgement and appreciation, "Thank you, sir. I'll see what I can do to help you clean up downstairs."

The manager laughed heartedly, impressed with the student's attitude, despite his own condition of a sleepless night, "You're alright, kid. I'll let your professors know what happened, and give an excuse of absence form to them."

Aaron gave a half smile, "I'll be down in half an hour."

Henderson's mess, which seemed to be lighter than usual, still had some really nasty points. Aaron sat down on the end of his bed, which creaked under his weight, exhausted by these regular issues. He had just started to get up, when the floor started rumbling under Aaron's feet. He stumbled to the window, and saw the entire campus shaking. "EARTHQUAKE!!!!!" he shouted, falling backwards as his stuff was sliding towards him. He was headed straight for the mirror.

He tripped, and the mirror ... absorbed him??? He saw his belongings follow suit before he was flung about in the tunnel. Not a tunnel, A portal... Those were his last thoughts before fading to unconsciousness.
