Someone was heavily coughing in heavy smoke as it flooded the room. A purple aura caused the window to the outside to open, releasing the building smoke from the confined space. A silhouette of a small equine creature with wings was flapping them to improve air circulation. The silhouette's shape became crisper, showing a horn on the forehead of the winged horse. The smoke cleared, revealing a mare with a lilac colored coat and feathered wings of the same hue. Her mane and tail were indigo, with natural highlights of a vibrant violet and magenta. This mare, Twilight Sparkle, a former unicorn turned alicorn through the means of the original Alicorn Sisters, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, was working on a project in an attempt to make long distance travel easier using magically enchanted mirrors.

"With this endeavour being failure forty-two, I can't seem to figure out why this isn't working," Twilight groaned, mostly to herself, "The magic filter is good, power output levels are fine, and the mirrors on both ends are in decent shape. What is going wrong in the process?" She was turning away from the mirror when she heard the sound of cracking glass. Whirling to face the noise, the mirror was no longer reflecting the room, but emitting a light of its own, the glass cracking under the energy behind it. "You've got to be kidding me," Twilight moaned as her horn glowed, placing a magical shield between the mirror and herself.

She had just finished the barrier when the mirror's glass shattered to powder, as a huge amount of objects came flooding through the frame, along with a creature unlike any she had ever seen or read about.

Similar to a pony, this creature had four limbs and head, but the obvious similarities ended there. It also had some vague similarities to the conceptual descriptions of a centaur. Its head had only a fur coat along the top of its head, and its ears were positioned at the sides of the head, not towards the top. No horns were found on its head, and its ears were more rounded and less expressive.

Its facial features were very close to a centaur's face, however its nose protruded out, shaped vaguely like a triangular pyramid, nostrils oriented downwards. With recently shaved facial hair, Twilight assumed it to be a male variant. With its skin exposed from the collar line up, the mid upper limbs down on both of his arms and legs, and his anatomical structuring of his upper torso was nearly identical to a centaur's. The only real difference was in the fingertips; they were rounded with embedded nails, rather than a centaur's tough, pointy fingertips.

From the waist down, Twilight was baffled by the anatomical structure. The legs only had two joints; one at the ankle, and one at the knee. The knees bent as such that the foot moved behind the body, and where hooves would be on the legs were too anatomically complex to be hooves.

"Spike!" Twilight called, her voice tight with masked panic, "I'm writing a letter to Princess Celestia! We've got a big situation on our hooves."

Spike, who had grown and matured a decent amount, flew into the room, wings outstretched, concern written all across his face. "Twilight, what happened that's so bad that Princess Celestia needs to-" he stopped midsentence at the sight of the unconscious creature on the floor, "WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING????"

Twilight, who had been writing the said letter, replied with a worried look on her face, "I don't know, Spike, but whatever he is, he's going to need our help."

"I think that he's going to need to get some first-aid and go to the hospital..." Spike stammered as he pointed a clawed finger at the creature's face.

The creature's left eye had been punctured by some kind of painted wooden stake, causing the eye socket to bleed. The left lens of his glasses was shattered as well. Twilight quickly finished her letter to her ex-mentor, and had Spike burn the letter. It somehow always made its way to Princess Celestia, but she had bigger problems at hoof, "Spike, get Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and AppleJack onto the next train to Canterlot. Put the tickets under my name, and tell Rarity that it's a life or death emergency." Twilight then used her magic to get the creature on her back, and teleported to the entrance of the Canterlot Emergency Hospital.

Two hours had passed, and Twilight was pacing when her friends rushed in through the entrance, with Princess Luna not far behind, "Is this ... creature ... in this building?"

Twilight nodded, and led them to the largest room. When they entered, the nurses, surgeons, and doctors were all arguing with each other, not out of hostility, but because of the lack of information needed to save the creature. Luna's entry causing the bickering to fall silent. "How is it?" she queried.

The head doctor who was overwhelmed, barely whispered, "Alive, but unstable..."

Another doctor came to the group, "Even if we can stabilize him, he will need multiple blood transfusions, but even then, the eye won't make it."

"White Cross!" a surgeon shouted, "He's stabilized, but it won't last long, not without some kind of magic to bind him to stability in our world!"

White Cross, the head doctor, rushed over. He did a scan over the patient's head and chest with his magic, nodded, crossed over to Twilight and Luna, and explained, "His survival requires three transfusions, removal of the stake, and a good amount of magic." Princess Celestia appeared in, along with Princess Cadence, and replied, "Cadence can remove the obstruction. Discord will be here shortly. He, Luna, and I will provide the transfusions." She turned to Twilight and her friends. "Can you provide the needed magic for him?" Princess Celestia asked.

Twilight nodded, "We will."

A crack sounded, and Discord, the Draconequus of Chaos, popped into existence from who knows where, looking bored until he saw the creature. "A blood transfusion? From me?" he huffed indignantly, "This is absolutely crazy, and coming from me, that's saying something!" Regardless, he pulled a cord from his palm, plugged it to the blood bag, and filled it up. The hose then repeated the process with Princess Celestia and Luna, each in separate bags. As the Mane Six procured the magical energy needed to save the creature, Princess Cadence activated her magic on the stake, while Dr. White Cross relayed instructions to the entire group.

Thirty minutes later, every pony, except Twilight, Dr. White Cross, Discord, and Princess Celestia, left the room, exhausted from the effort, panic, or removal of blood. "Well, it looks like the patient will make a successful recovery," the doctor sighed.

"Twilight," Celestia queried, "Do you know what that creature is?"

"I'm afraid not," Twilight replied, "He came from the experimental mirror portal I was working on, along with quite a bit of his property, by my guess."

"Actually," Discord interjected, "I believe that thing is something called a human."

"We're going to need to see what this 'human' has to say, once he regains consciousness," Dr. White Cross decided, "For now the, he needs to heal and recover."
