It had been a week since the creation of Aaron's foci, and he was already using his magic to understand the world around him and create all sorts of unusual things. He did need some new clothes, but thankfully, Rarity was already eager to see what challenges lay in store for her when he entered her shop.

Twilight noticed that he didn't speak to many of the other citizens of Ponyville unless one of her friends or herself introduced them. Aaron was clearly feeling awkward around Pinkie, which was a strange thing, considering she was the most outgoing pony here. Rainbow Dash didn't fare much better with him as he explained that her aggression, however friendly she was, just kind of made him mentally cower.

AppleJack was more successful in connecting with Aaron, as her straight forward attitude and casual mood seemed to allow the human to relax. Aaron made a cautious effort to talk with Fluttershy, and after a few hours of working with her animals, they found out that like how Fluttershy could understand Angel the Rabbit, Aaron had an uncanny ability to communicate effectively the feline species. Even cat-like monsters could be understood by him.

That said, Aaron did have a few ponies he didn't get along with. Discord was one of the first creatures. They clearly were opposites in nature; Discord was the embodiment of chaos, while Aaron seemed to be more logical and orderly. This tense friendship was eased once Fluttershy mediated between them, allowing them both to relax.

Starlight had first introduced Discord to Aaron, but she also introduced Trixie to him. Those two did not like each other. Aaron's relaxed personality didn't sit well with Trixie, while Trixie's high and mighty attitude put Aaron in an emotionally volatile state.

It had gotten to the point of Trixie throwing an insult at the fact that Aaron only had one eye. The two were scheduled for a public duel outside of the town, away from AppleJack's farm. Since then, Aaron was in a room that he had requested be made.

Filled with metals and materials of all kinds, he spent the past twenty-four hours in there, only pausing for meals and personal maintenance. Twilight often heard noises coming from the room during daylight hours.

"Hey, Aaron! You awake in there?" Twilight called, worried about him and the problem at hand, "Are you okay?"

"Procedure completed," a synthesized voice remarked, "Initiating waking up protocol."

A few minutes passed before the door opened. "Ah, Miss Sparkle," he yawned, stretching as he did so, "Sorry, did I disrupt anything?"

"No, I was rather worried, though," Twilight replied, "Just be sure to keep me updated when you do something like this."

"Understood," he acknowledged, flexing his fingers.

The following day, the majority of Ponyville's population was gathered out in the fields that lay near the Everfree Forest. The Mane Six, Starlight, and Discord were all there, with Discord, Starlight, AppleJack and Twilight at the front. Aaron was already waiting when Trixie showed up.

"So, you decided to take my challenge on, you one-eyed weirdo," Trixie started smugly, putting the pressure on the human, "Be prepared to bow before the Great and Powerful Trixie when this is through!"

"You should be careful about who you antagonize, Trixie," Aaron replied, his mouth a line of grim determination, "You're not the only one with a few tricks up their sleeves."

Trixie laughed, clearly amused from his implications and word choice, "I may have been defeated by Princess Twilight, but how could a mutated centaur like you take me on?"

"Let's just say that those who can learn from their own mistakes have wisdom," Aaron retorted calmly, "When someone learns from another's mistakes, they have common sense."

Obviously Aaron had struck a nerve, because Trixie made the first move, summoning a magical blast. Aaron used his magic and procured a magical energy blade at a surprising speed, cutting Trixie's blast in half, sending it to his sides.

Trixie was caught by surprise by the defensive move he had made. "How did you do that? You didn't move from your spot and you're still untouched!"

"You want to try again?" Aaron offered, his face in a neutral expression. Trixie fired again, putting more power into the attack. Aaron summoned his blade of magic at an abnormally fast pace and deflected the beam of energy coming at him. It rocketed into the sky, and he 'sheathed' the blade as fast as he pulled it out.

"Why do you just protect yourself?!" Trixie shouted, clearly upset about her opponent's defensive ability, "Prove your own intelligence to me, you cycloptic wimp!"

"If that's what you want," Aaron replied, and took off running. Seen only as a lime green and dark blue blur, Trixie was trying to hit him with her magic, but kept missing. He was moving irregularly, keeping her mind on the move. The viewers of the duel noticed what Trixie did not, due to her concentration; a curved ramp of earth was being formed from the ground.

"Hold still, you slippery ape! You will regret-" she started, before she was picked up off the ground by the middle of her body by Aaron. He then ran up the ramp, not losing his pace, all while Trixie screamed as they rocketed into the sky. The Wonderbolt squad, Discord and Twilight took to the air, searching for the battling duo.

Aaron shifted Trixie to hold her just under her front legs so they could talk face to face, "Look, I enjoy your performance abilities, but you've been saying things that hurt."

"I do that kind of thing all the time!" Trixie hollered over the rushing air, "How was I supposed to know that you get easily offended?"

"Starlight told you! Don't you remember?" Aaron countered.

"I thought she was pulling my leg!" Trixie replied as their ascension stopped, "I won't do it anymore; I am sorry!"

"Apology accepted," he replied, an excited smile on his face, "Now, let's show our audience what it means to soar! Get a couple dozen of your smokebombs ready!"

He pulled out a strange contraption that he put onto to his back. Trixie found a small input slot and placed her smokebombs in it. A lid slid shut as Trixie sat on Aaron's shoulder blades. "Are you sure this thing will work?!" Trixie shouted, "I don't want to die!"

Aaron pulled on a cord that made a dorsal fin-like wing come out of the back of the vest, then stuck his arms into a series of loops on his sides and pulled. The medical eye patch freed itself from Aaron's face and flew behind them as they proceeded to glide in the sky.
