As Jupiter walked back to his office, he could feel a small pang of pain in his chest. The young boy – John – who Jupiter had just lead up to his room on the fourth floor, had somehow made his way into the captain's heart. He barely knew the child, but he could tell that he'd been through more than any child should ever go through. More than anyone should ever have to go through.
Sitting down in his chair, Jupiter sighed, rubbing his face in his hands. He looked over to the fireplace, only to find that he couldn't see it through a pile of grey fuzz.
"What are you looking at?"
Jupiter shook his head fondly, "I was trying to look at the fireplace."
"Well, too bad. Who's the kid?"
Jupiter blinked, "the kid?"
The grey fuzz rolled over, revealing large amber eyes that bore into him, "the boy who was in here with you before. Is he from Larommi?"
Jupiter sighed, "yes... but I think his story goes much deeper than that."
The Magnificat snorted, "don't most of our stories go deeper than that?"
"It depends on what that is."
"How long do you think the adoption process will take?"
"I don't know Fenestra, I really don't... but if it goes for too long, we'll keep whoever's left – don't give me that look! Do you really think they'll want to go back to another orphanage?"
Fenestra lay her head back down, "you should've let me deal with Trotters."
Jupiter let out a short, hysterical laugh, "we wanted them alive, Fen, for interrogation."
Getting up, the Magnificat responded, "who said I was going to kill them?"
"Right."
"Just would've beaten some sense into them."
"And would they have been harmed in the process?"
"Jupiter, they literally tortured children."
"Yes, but violence isn't the-"
"Not always."
"Fen-"
"You should go to sleep – big day tomorrow."
"Don't shoo me out of my own office!"
"I'm not; I'm suggesting you sleep."
"And what are you going to do?"
"Sleep."
"..you do that nearly all day, every day."
"Then who cleans the rooms, hmm?"
"I said nearly all day, every day."
"Just go, Jupiter."
"Alright, alright – goodnight, Fen."
"Goodnight, madman."

Sentiment of a Witness
FanficJupiter looked down at his hands and shrugged, "I think he's embarrassed. People tend not to like Witnesses - it's hard to be friends with someone who can see all your secrets." Perhaps embarrassed isn't quite the right word to use here. How about s...
